Your Role:

Tenable is looking for an AI Research Engineer to join our security research team. This position will involve building, and deploying AI agents and workflows that can reason, take action and solve complex problems for our users. Primary responsibility includes developing tools to automate content creation and rapidly prototype advanced Cyber Security features.

Your Opportunity:

  • Works on advanced research and development initiatives.
  • Build AI Agents: Design and implement AI agents using frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, or Pydantic AI. You will define tools, goals, and constraints for agents to execute tasks autonomously.
  • Workflow Automation: Develop end to end intelligent workflows that integrate LLMs with external APIs, databases, and internal tools (e.g., Slack, Jira).
  • RAG Implementation: Build and maintain Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG)
    pipelines to ground AI responses in our company’s proprietary data using vector
    databases.
  • Evaluation and Testing: Create evaluation sets to test the accuracy, latency, and
    reliability of your agents.


What You'll Need:

  • Keep up to date with the advancements and developments in the security industry and perform research to keep our customers secure.
  • Curious and Resilient temperament as you will be solving complex problems in a
    dynamic environment.
  • Good programming skills: Go, Python, LLM Fundamentals, API integration, and
    automation.
  • Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision as well as collaborate and work with others as part of the larger research team.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and able to shift priorities as needed.
  • Willingness to explore and learn.
  • B.S. degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 2 years of R&D experience.
  • Proven ability to independently research and publish findings in the cybersecurity
    domain space.

And ideally:

  • Cyber security background.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
  • AI Security and Red Teaming experience.
  • Experience with security standards and frameworks such as NIST 800-53, CIS, HIPAA, PCI and DISA STIGS.​
