The AI Operations Engineer exists to unlock faster delivery of new AI functionality by owning the reliability, maintenance, and evolution of production AI-enabled systems. The AI Operations team sits at the heart of Sonatype’s strategy, enabling AI-powered insights that support Go-To-Market and internal decision-making. We operate fast, experiment often, and focus on making sure what we build continues to deliver value long after it reaches production.
This is a mid-level Individual Contributor role with end-to-end ownership of live systems, operating at the intersection of AI, production operations, and Go-To-Market enablement. As AI Ops Engineer, you’ll own the running of AI-enabled systems so our Build teams can focus on what they do best: creating new AI functionality. You’ll ensure our production tools are reliable, secure, and continuously improving — and you’ll have real influence over how those systems evolve.
In summary, this role is ideal for someone who enjoys operating systems end-to-end, improving what already exists, and working close to the business impact of AI.
What you'll do:
Own and operate production AI-enabled systems deployed in AWS
Keep systems reliable, secure, and running smoothly as usage scales
Improve data pipelines so AI-driven insights remain accurate and trustworthy
Partner with GTM / RevOps to support tools that power how we go to market
Enhance existing systems based on real user feedback
Collaborate with IT to build the operational infrastructure that powers our intelligent systems.
Forge connections between new, cutting-edge tools (including AI-driven solutions) and our existing ecosystem.
Monitor data pipelines and automated systems, guaranteeing the reliability of the insights we deliver.
Empower the rest of the business by providing clear, accurate answers to their most pressing questions.
What you bring:
3+ years of related experience deploying and operating production systems in the cloud, especially in AWS.
Strong Python experience.

A passion for making things work, and you thrive on ensuring systems are running smoothly.
Sharp problem solving skills, organization, and attention to detail to create order from chaos.
Strong communication skills and team work to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders and get things done.
An eye for AI solutions potential and the will to push boundaries of what's possible.
It'd be great if you also had:
Experience with Go, TypeScript, or PySpark
