Contribute to the creation of AI archetypes and systemic combat/stealth loops, ensuring intelligent NPC behavior and seamless player experiences in AAA games.
We’re looking for a Game Designer to serve as the one of the architects of our NPC behaviors and systemic encounters. This is both a design and implementation-focused role where you will work directly in the engine to bridge the gap between design, animation, and code.
You will be contributing to creating our AI Archetypes, ensuring they provide meaningful challenge and experience and act intelligently and in a systemic way. Your focus will be on translating high-level vision AI features, navigating technical and architectural constraints to deliver a seamless player experience.
Your Goal:
Define, design, and maintain AI behaviors, archetypes and systemic combat/stealth loops in alignment with the creative vision.
Translate high-level vision into achievable AI/combat/stealth solutions in-game, taking into account technical constraints.
Act as the primary link between Design, Programming, and Animation to ensure NPC motion and behavior are perfectly synchronized.
Your Daily Tasks:
Manage and iterate on complex AI scripts and logic structures directly within the engine.
Solve complex challenges regarding NPC positioning, tactical maneuvering, and environmental awareness to ensure intelligent navigation and flanking.
Collaborate with both programmers and animators to configure animation systems and state machines.
Iteratively setup and fine-tune variables and enemy attributes to achieve a strong, polished "game feel" in second-to-second gameplay.
Design and configure systemic combat and stealth loops that function reliably within performance and network architecture budgets.
Use technical debugging tools to troubleshoot AI behaviors, setups, and performance hitches.
Deep experience in designing and configuring systemic combat and stealth loops in at least one shipped AAA title.
Proficiency in managing complex AI logic, attributes, and variables directly in-engine.
A strong grasp of 3D spatial logic and geometry as they apply to NPC movement and awareness.
Ability to clearly explain design logic and technical requirements to both creative and engineering teams.
Excellent communication and documentation abilities, able to clearly explain design logic and iteration rationale.
Good command of English and an open, collaborative attitude toward cross-discipline teamwork.
Passion for games and strong knowledge of contemporary game design trends, particularly progression systems, RPG elements, and player retention mechanics.
