Overview

As the Head of AI, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring our workers are engaged in cutting-edge AI work, optimizing our AI processes, and driving ethical AI data collection practices. Additionally, you will spearhead initiatives to bring AI-enabled earning and learning opportunities to low-income communities globally.

Responsibilities

Bringing Cutting-Edge AI Work Opportunities to Our Communities 

  • Identify unique opportunities for our worker communities to be involved in the building of cutting-edge AI innovations
  • Designing AI-enabled pathways to reduce complexity of digital tasks for our worker communities 

Process Optimization

  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize Karya's AI processes, including data validation, data management, and model deployment.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve our AI workflows, leveraging automation and streamlining where possible.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.

Ethical AI and Data Collection

  • Champion ethical AI principles and practices throughout the organization, ensuring our AI models are developed and deployed responsibly.
  • Establish robust frameworks and guidelines for ethical data collection, addressing issues such as privacy, bias, and fairness.
  • Collaborate with external partners and stakeholders to stay abreast of emerging trends and best practices in ethical AI.

AI-enabled Earning and Learning Opportunities

  • Spearhead initiatives to bring AI-enabled earning and learning opportunities to low-income communities globally.
  • Develop and implement strategies to upskill and empower our workers through AI-focused training and education programs.
  • Explore partnerships and collaborations with organizations and institutions to expand the reach and impact of our AI-enabled earning and learning initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field, with a strong focus on AI and machine learning.
  • Extensive experience in leading AI model development and training projects, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality results.
  • Deep understanding of ethical AI principles, data privacy, and responsible AI practices.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Passion for social impact and a commitment to empowering low-income communities through technology and education.

The AI revolution has created a massive amount of digital work surrounding data generation, labelling, and enrichment. From building multimodal Indic language datasets and human-in-the-loop tasks to mitigating bias and culturally-sensitive LLM evaluations, Karya’s workers in rural India enable cutting-edge, inclusive AI innovations.      We have also built a one-of-a-kind digital work platform that divides AI-data tasks into microtasks and distributes them to individuals in need of supplementary income.
