As an AI Engineer at Habitat Learn, you will play a crucial role in developing and enhancing our cutting-edge NLP systems and language models for our flagship product, Messenger Pigeon. The specific feature you will contribute to is called Study Assistant, a tool designed to help students understand and learn from their lecture content.

This position is remote; however, you must be located in Scotland. You will be working closely with our CTO and a group of AI engineers located in England, fostering a collaborative and dynamic environment.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and optimize NLP algorithms and models:
    • Design, implement, and evaluate NLP algorithms and models to enhance the Study Assistant feature in Messenger Pigeon.
    • Improve the performance and efficiency of existing NLP systems through continuous experimentation and optimization.
  2. Train and fine-tune large-scale language models:
    • Utilize your experience with large language models to train and fine-tune models specifically for Study Assistant's text analysis, question-answering, and educational content understanding capabilities.
    • Conduct experiments and evaluations to improve the quality, accuracy, and relevance of the language models used.
  3. Data preprocessing and annotation:
    • Preprocess and clean large volumes of textual data, including lecture content and educational resources, for training and evaluation purposes.
    • Annotate and label data for training and testing NLP models, ensuring high-quality and accurate annotations for educational context.
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams:
    • Work closely with our CTO and a group of AI engineers located in England to integrate NLP models.
    • Collaborate on designing and implementing efficient data pipelines and infrastructure for NLP model training and deployment.
  5. Stay up-to-date with NLP research and industry trends:
    • Monitor the latest advancements in NLP research and technologies to drive innovation and recommend new approaches for enhancing capabilities.
    • Share knowledge and best practices with the team to foster a culture of continuous learning and growth.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
  • Strong background in Natural Language Processing (NLP) with a deep understanding of NLP algorithms, techniques, and tools.
  • Proven experience (X+ years) in developing and implementing NLP models and algorithms, preferably in industry settings.
  • Experience working with large-scale language models (e.g., GPT, BERT, Transformer models).
  • Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in NLP, such as Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of data preprocessing techniques and data annotation for NLP tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative remote environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Benefits

We offer a competitive salary package and a stimulating remote work environment at Habitat Learn, where you can make a significant impact on cutting-edge NLP technologies that power our flagship product, Messenger Pigeon. While this position is remote, you must be located in Scotland. You will be working closely with our CTO and a group of AI engineers located in England, fostering collaboration across borders.

If you are passionate about advancing the field of Natural Language Processing and have a track record of success in working with large language models for educational applications, we would love to hear from you.
