Our Solution:

As an AI Solutions Engineer at ButterflyMX, you’ll bring cutting-edge AI tools into the daily operations of a fast-growing SaaS company. You’ll design, build, and deliver pragmatic AI solutions that save time, reduce friction, and improve decision-making for our teams. You’ll act as a hands-on builder and problem-solver focused on turning ideas into working prototypes and scaling those prototypes into production-ready tools that deliver measurable business value. This role reports to the AI Solutions Lead and is eligible for fully remote work (inside the continental US).

Responsibilities:

• Implement chat interfaces with streaming responses and conversation history management
• Build RAG systems that retrieve relevant context and generate responses
• Integrate AI capabilities into existing features (e.g., AI-powered search, content generation, summarization)
• Design and implement prompt templates and dynamic context injection
• Create user interfaces for AI configuration and feedback collection
• Implement error handling, retry logic, and fallback strategies for AI API calls
• Build evaluation workflows to test prompt performance and output quality
• Work with designers to create intuitive AI interaction patterns
• Optimize token usage and implement caching strategies
• Collaborate with backend teams on API contracts and data requirements
• Instrument AI features for analytics and user behavior tracking
• Participate in product discussions to scope and design AI features
• Fine-tune models or prompts based on user feedback and metrics
• Implement safety measures like input validation and output filtering

Requirements:

• 5+ years of software development experience building production applications
• Hands-on experience with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) and AI orchestration frameworks (OpenAI Agents SDK, Google ADK)
• Strong proficiency in modern web/mobile development frameworks 
• Experience working with APIs and real-time/streaming data
• Hands-on experience implementing AI features using LLM APIs or ML model endpoints
• Knowledge of prompt engineering, context management, and AI interaction patterns
• Understanding of vector databases and semantic search implementation
• Experience with state management in AI-powered applications
• Familiarity with A/B testing and feature experimentation
• Strong product sense and ability to translate requirements into technical solutions
• Experience with agile development and cross-functional collaboration
