AI Annotation Project Manager

TLDR

Manage end-to-end annotation operations across teams, ensuring seamless collaboration and delivery of ML datasets while utilizing Jira and Google Sheets for efficiency.

About Us

At Prenuvo, we are on a mission to flip the paradigm from reactive “sick-care” to proactive health care. Our award-winning whole body scan is fast (under 1 hour), safe (MRI has no ionizing radiation), and non-invasive (no contrast). Our unique integrated stack of optimized hardware, software, and increasingly AI, coupled with the patient-centric experience of our clinics across North America, have allowed us to lead the charge against “we caught it too late again.” Prenuvo operates preventative screening clinics in Vancouver, Silicon Valley, Dallas, Houston, Boca Raton, Minneapolis, Los Angeles, New York City, Buffalo, Bethesda, Chicago, and Atlanta, with more clinics in North America and internationally in the next 2 years.

The role

We are looking for an Annotation Operations Lead to join our AI Research team. This is a project management role at its core - the operational backbone of our AI model delivery pipeline. The right person owns the systems, cadence, and accountability structures that keep annotation workflows moving at scale across radiologists, ML engineers, research leads, and external vendors.

This position is hybrid, preferably based in Vancouver for regular on-site collaboration with our expert teams.

Help reshape the world through proactive healthcare while working with cutting-edge technology and high performing teams with deep expertise - join us to make a difference in people’s lives!

What you'll do

  • Design and own end-to-end annotation operations: dataset intake, task scoping, contributor assignment, QC loops, rework tracking, and final delivery to the ML team - with clear SLAs at every stage.
  • Configure and maintain Jira as the system of record for all annotation work, including workflow design, custom fields, automation rules, and dashboards that give real-time visibility into progress, blockers, and throughput.
  • Build and maintain Google Sheets tracking systems with Apps Script automation to support QC attribution, vendor performance reporting, and data consolidation across internal and external contributors.
  • Manage external annotation vendor relationships - setting clear expectations, tracking against commitments, and escalating when delivery is at risk.
  • Partner with radiologists and research leads to translate clinical requirements into precise, executable annotation guidelines, and maintain those standards consistently across all contributors.
  • Establish and own QC and QA processes: define acceptance criteria, track error rates by contributor and task type, identify systemic quality issues, and drive corrective action.
  • Maintain annotation documentation - SOPs, training materials, guideline versioning - so that standards are auditable and onboarding is not dependent on tribal knowledge.
  • Surface risks, blockers, and capacity issues proactively before they become delivery problems.
  • Support regulatory and clinical validation efforts by ensuring annotation workflows produce documentation-ready, audit-traceable outputs.

What you'll bring

Must-have:

  • 5+ years in a project management, operations, or program management role in a deadline-driven, multi-stakeholder environment - clinical research, MedTech, imaging, or a CRO strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience configuring Jira for a team: workflow design, custom fields, dashboards, and automation rules.
  • Strong Google Sheets fluency including Apps Script for automation - experience building systems that others rely on day-to-day.
  • Experience managing external vendors or cross-functional partners against timelines and quality standards, including escalation and documentation when commitments slip.
  • Ability to take expert guidance from radiologists or engineers and turn it into structured, consistent process documentation a full team can execute against.
  • A direct, relationship-aware communication style - comfortable raising issues clearly and holding the line without creating friction.

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with medical imaging concepts - enough to understand what annotators are doing and why guideline precision matters.
  • Experience with annotation platforms such as RedBrick AI, Labelbox, or Encord.
  • Background in clinical trial management, imaging core labs, or PACS/RIS administration.
  • Comfort using LLMs to draft documentation, write scripts, or automate repetitive tasks.
  • Exposure to FDA regulatory workflows, DHF documentation, or clinical validation processes.
