Seeking a highly skilled and experienced Aerodynamics Engineer to join its core engineering team. This role is responsible for the aerodynamic integrity of our advanced gas turbine products, from initial concept through detailed design and field support.

Responsibilities

The Turbine Aerodynamics Group holds technical responsibility for the aerodynamic design and analysis of the company’s gas turbines. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the preliminary and detailed definition of flow path and airfoils for gas turbines.
  • Designing turbine exhaust diffusers and collectors.
  • Supporting new engine programs, product upgrades, and uprates through comprehensive aerodynamic analysis.
  • Developing and maintaining proprietary analytical tools/software to improve design efficiency and predictive capabilities.
  • Collaborating frequently with Mechanical Design, Heat Transfer, and Performance Groups to ensure designs meet all program requirements for manufacturability, cost, durability, and performance.
  • Actively participating in field issue resolution related to product durability and manufacturing.
  • Working effectively in inter- and intra-disciplinary team settings.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience: Several years of relevant gas turbine aerodynamics experience (7+ years preferred).
  • Technical Proficiency:
  • Current experience and familiarity with 1-D, 2-D, and 3-D aero design tools and methods.
  • Proficient with coding using Python, C, C++, or similar languages for engineering applications.
  • Experience interfacing with other design disciplines (e.g., Mechanical Design, Heat Transfer) to develop integrated aerodynamic technologies.
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical skills, ability to multitask, handle complicated tasks efficiently, and be highly engaged in team discussions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience: Advanced experience with cooled and uncooled turbine blades and nozzles.
  • Technical Proficiency:
  • Demonstrated experience with automation of design processes, including CFD pre- and post-processing.
  • Familiarity with commercial CFD packages such as ANSYS CFX and/or STAR CCM+, and geometry-creation tools like Creo.
