Advisory Blue Consultant

The Microsoft Advisory Consultant supports SRA’s mission to level up every day to protect our clients and their customers by helping large enterprise clients design, implement, and optimize Microsoft security and compliance solutions. This entry level role is focused on engineering and advisory work across technologies such as Microsoft Entra, Purview, Intune, and Defender, ensuring they are configured to meet client security, compliance, and operational goals. The consultant will work in close partnership with senior team members to deliver high quality technical outcomes while developing consulting, communication, and problem-solving skills in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment.  

Essential Functions

  • Work under the mentorship of a Senior Consultant and Project Lead to implement and configure Microsoft security and compliance technologies including Entra, Intune, Defender, and Purview within enterprise client environments.  
  • Configure identity management capabilities such as conditional access, multifactor authentication (MFA), and role‑based access control (RBAC). 
  • Deploy and manage device and endpoint management policies through Intune, including compliance enforcement and app protection configurations. 
  • Implement data protection and compliance controls in Purview, such as sensitivity labels, data classification, and data loss prevention (DLP) policies. 
  • Deploy and harden Microsoft Defender agents using ASR rules and cloud app discovery features to improve visibility and endpoint security posture. 
  • Perform hands-on technical engineering tasks related to security controls, policy configuration, and technology integration.  
  • Document project objectives, configurations, and outcomes in clear and concise formats aligned with SRA’s standards.  
  • Manage and track assigned work items, escalating challenges promptly to senior team members or project leadership.  
  • Maintain foundational knowledge of Azure administration, identity, and networking concepts that impact security architecture.  
  • Communicate proactively and professionally with clients and internal stakeholders, providing status updates and supporting collaborative decision-making.  
  • Demonstrate adaptability and eagerness to learn new Microsoft technologies, security features, and client delivery processes. 

Requirements

Required Education and Experience  

  

  • 1-3 years of previous professional in cybersecurity/consulting, or equivalent. 
  • Foundational hands-on knowledge of Microsoft Entra, Intune, Defender, and Purview.  
  • Ability to build and interpret Kusto Query Language (KQL) queries for log analysis.  
  • Understanding of Azure administration, identity management, and networking fundamentals. 
  • Punctuality and timely attendance to external client and internal stakeholder needs. 

  

Preferred Qualifications and Experience  

  • Residence in Eastern time zone preferred. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for client interactions and documentation.  
  • Exposure to or interest in scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python, Microsoft Graph, etc.).  
  • Demonstrated adaptability, critical thinking, and eagerness to learn in dynamic environments. 
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.  
  • Excellent technical skills, impeccable soft skills, and organization skills.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work  

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday 8:30am to 5pm EST. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.  

  

Travel  

  • Willingness to travel 30-50% depending on assignments and specializations.  
  • Willingness to travel internationally and domestically on a more frequent basis.
