Job Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) to join a highly specialised Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre in Bristol. This service provides rehabilitation for adults aged 16 and above with acquired or traumatic brain injuries, offering intensive, person-centred therapy to support recovery and maximise independence.

As part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team, you will work with individuals presenting with complex communication and swallowing difficulties following brain injury. You will play a vital role in assessing, diagnosing, and delivering specialist interventions to help patients achieve clearly defined and meaningful rehabilitation goals.

This role is ideal for a Band 6 or Band 7 therapist with experience in adult neurorehabilitation, dysphagia management, and communication disorders within an inpatient or specialist setting.


Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:
• Conduct comprehensive assessments for adults with acquired and traumatic brain injuries, presenting with cognitive-communication disorders, aphasia, dysarthria, and dysphagia.
• Develop and deliver tailored therapy plans aligned with patient-centred rehabilitation goals.
• Provide specialist clinical input as part of the multidisciplinary team, contributing to goal-setting meetings, case discussions, and review processes.
• Maintain accurate, detailed, and up-to-date clinical documentation in line with HCPC and RCSLT standards.
• Support patient engagement, family communication, and education to promote carryover of therapy strategies.
• Participate in service development and demonstrate evidence-based practice within neurorehabilitation.


Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, you must have:
• A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
• Current HCPC registration and eligibility for RCSLT membership.
• Previous clinical experience in adult neurorehabilitation, including assessment and management of communication and swallowing disorders.
• Strong clinical reasoning skills and the ability to work independently within a supportive team.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills.
• A compassionate, patient-centred approach and commitment to promoting recovery and autonomy.
