Job Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) to join an Adult Acute Inpatient service based in South East Wales. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a fast-paced hospital environment, supporting adults with a range of communication and swallowing difficulties resulting from acute medical, surgical, or neurological conditions.

The successful candidate will provide specialist assessment, diagnosis, and intervention, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, person-centred care. This role is ideal for a Band 6 or 7 therapist looking to further develop their clinical expertise in an acute setting.


Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis, and management of adults with speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders in an acute inpatient setting.

  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including medical, nursing, and allied health professionals, to support safe and effective patient care.

  • Deliver individualised therapy and rehabilitation plans, ensuring timely and evidence-based interventions.

  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical records in line with HCPC and RCSLT standards.

  • Contribute to discharge planning, staff training, and service development initiatives.

  • Provide clinical supervision and support to junior colleagues or students, where applicable.


Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent qualification).

  • HCPC registration and membership (or eligibility) with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).

  • Relevant experience working in an adult acute or hospital-based setting.

  • Strong knowledge of dysphagia management and communication disorders in adults.

  • Excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary team skills.

  • A proactive, reflective, and patient-centred approach to professional practice.
