The Admissions Office seeks four to six students to serve as Admissions Summer Interns. The Summer Intern’s primary responsibility is to represent Middlebury College to visiting prospective students and families. Admissions Interns conduct daily tours of the campus Monday through Saturday and assist in greeting visitors to campus, answering phone calls, and responding to emails. This is a full-time position that requires at least 33 hours per week in-person availability. On campus housing is included with this position.
This is a Middlebury student Level C position paying $15.40 per hour.
Qualifications:
Admissions Summer Interns are often the only current Middlebury students with whom our visitors interact during their summer campus visits. Ideal candidates should be able to relate to visitors who may have interests that differ from theirs and who can have a wide array of experiences at Middlebury. Summer Interns are expected to be professional, enthusiastic, positive, motivated, personable, and responsible. Admissions Summer Interns must be able to maintain good stamina and stay upbeat throughout the summer. Must be able to commit to being at Admissions June 30th until August 16th with some starting at the end of the school year possibly continuing until August 21st.
Core Responsibilities:
We will be reviewing applications as submitted through February and the position will be closed once the position is filled. This position includes housing and dining hall access during the language school weeks.
Requirements
Unless restricted by certain visa status, all students with an active status for the semester are eligible for jobs on campus.
Students on leave or withdrawn are not eligible to work in student employment positions until the semester in which they return. If you are currently withdrawn or on leave you are eligible to be employed in staff positions.
Some may be restricted due to financial aid status. International students (non-resident aliens) may not work off campus unless they have applied for and received work authorization from the United States government. (An F-1 visa does not give work authorization.) Off campus work study positions are available only to U.S. citizens on financial aid with a federal work study component.
Student are not eligible to work remotely from International locations.
All student employees are limited to working no more than 20 hours per week in on campus jobs during the academic year (this includes exam periods). The only exception is when there is a full week when school is not in session. Specifically: February recess, Spring recess, and full weeks of December or summer recess. During these time periods only, students can work up to 40 hours per week. International Students: Visa restrictions prohibit international students from exceeding 20 hours of work per academic calendar week.
