These courses course be throughout Monday – Friday during core daytime business hours, during the evenings, or throughout the weekends. Our learners are mature, focused, and want to be challenged.    The instructor's role is to professionally manage and engage students in the learning process and to ensure that students achieve established learning objectives to the maximum of their potential.  The instructor is to make use of any and all available resources, methods, techniques and strategies, to ensure student success.  Instructors are expected to work collaboratively with colleagues to create a learning environment which is pedagogically sound, technically supported and innovative in nature.   Note: We are currently building our Adjunct Instructor talent pool for potential course opportunities for our NDT programming during the 2025-2026 Academic Year. Please note that we will only be hiring sufficient instructors to support the expected demand throughout the year and this demand is subject to change. The Role
  • Prepare and present engaging lessons, lectures, assignments, quizzes, exams, lab activities and lab demonstrations for learners (if applicable) given the course outlines
  • Evaluate student progress and maintain records for the purposes of grading, assessing professionalism and tracking attendance in both theory and lab classes if given the course outline
  • Manage the classroom or lab to ensure a positive and engaging learning environment
  • Show personal interest in the learner and create a climate conducive to optimal learning
  • Provide on-going support, guidance and advice to students
  • Review course content and links in the D2L shell, and update any material as needed to maintain up-to date and relevant learning.  This is considered as part of "course preparation"
  • Attend all SAIT training as required
  • Achievement of Subdivision initiatives and objectives
  • Adhere to all safety legislation, guidelines and safety standards as required
  • Maintain contact with relevant industry sectors
  • Complete job shadowing and an Instructional Skills Workshop, or Teaching Excellence Foundations training, within 1 year of start date (unless it cannot be completed prior to teaching due to availability of these trainings)
  • All other related duties as required to meet the emerging needs of SAIT and its students
  • Qualifications
  • Have demonstrated knowledge of materials, science and product technology
  • The candidate should possess certification in at least 3 of the methods outlined below:
  • CGSB Level II or III certification in Radiography, Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrant, Ultrasonic Inspection.
  • Have a minimum of 3 years of documented experience in NDT (5 years preferred)
  • Preference will also be given to candidates who possess CGSB RT Level II
  • Must be CEDO certified
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills as well as a commitment to learner success
  • Ability to work independently and as a positive team player
  • Strong prioritization and time management skills

  • Preferred:
  • Previous instructional experience considered an asset
  • Training and knowledge in adult learning fundamentals
  • Experience with a Learning Management System (Brightspace or Moodle) considered an asset
  • Experience with videoconferencing technology (MS Teams, WebX, Zoom, Skype) considered an asset
  • Experience with curriculum development or instructional design considered an asset
