Role Overview 
As an Acquisition Editor (Events) at Packt, your focus will be on acquiring, curating, and producing impactful live sessions, workshops, and events that engage developer and technology communities. You will scout top experts, build strong relationships, and design programs that drive thought leadership, learning, and community engagement. Instead of books, your 'products' are live and interactive experiences.

What you’ll do 
Speaker & Expert Acquisition 

  • Identify and recruit influential practitioners, thought leaders, and engineers to deliver live sessions, workshops, and panel discussions. 
  • Craft tailored pitches that align event opportunities with an expert’s professional brand and goals. 
  • Negotiate speaking agreements and onboarding processes to ensure high-quality event delivery. 

Event Product Design & Curation 

  • Shape the design of events—from themes and formats to session structures—based on market demand and community insights. 
  • Translate industry trends into compelling event concepts (e.g., expert AMAs, skill-based workshops, hackathons, panels). 
  • Balance educational value with interactivity to ensure sessions resonate with practitioners. 

Speaker Experience & Relationship Management 

  • Act as the primary relationship manager for speakers before, during, and after sessions. 
  • Provide coaching on content structure, interactivity, and audience engagement. 
  • Foster long-term partnerships, encouraging recurring speakers and brand ambassadors. 

Community & Ecosystem Engagement 

  • Engage with developer communities, online forums, and industry events to identify trends and new voices. 
  • Build Packt’s presence in tech spaces by connecting live events to communities on GitHub, Stack Overflow, Reddit, LinkedIn, and Discord. 
  • Partner with influencers and community leaders to co-host or amplify live sessions. 

Cross-Functional Collaboration 

  • Collaborate with Marketing and Growth to drive attendance, optimize event discoverability, and ensure brand consistency. 
  • Partner with Content, Design, and Production teams to ensure smooth event execution (e.g., streaming logistics, platform setup, audience interactivity). 

What you’ll bring (Skills & competencies) 

  • Acquisition & Negotiation - Proven ability to identify, recruit, and commission top-tier speakers; persuasive communicator with strong relationship-building skills 
  • Event/Product Design - Experience curating live learning experiences, with strong instincts for format, flow, and audience interactivity. 
  • Community & Influencer Savvy - Deep understanding of developer ecosystems, influencer dynamics, and how to authentically engage audiences. 
  • Commercial & Product Mindset - Ability to align event programming with Packt’s broader commercial goals and position live sessions as scalable products. 
  • Organized & Analytical - Strong pipeline management, ability to track attendance/engagement data, and iterate event formats for higher impact. 

Success Metrics 

  • Build a consistent pipeline of high-impact speakers and event proposals aligned with Packt’s priority tech domains. 
  • Deliver high-quality live sessions that achieve strong attendance, positive feedback, and repeat participation. 
  • Lead event product design that aligns with market demand and fosters interactive learning. 
  • Grow Packt’s visibility and reputation in developer communities through live programming. 
  • Demonstrate measurable outcomes in community engagement, brand reach, and commercial success linked to events.

Mothly Gross Salary: INR 60K -200K fixed per month (depending on relevant experience and /skills)
