The Accounting Manager will support the Head of Finance in planning and directing the accounting activities of the finance department in North America (NA). Effectively coordinating the work within the department and are leading the month end closing and reporting process, including balance sheet reconciliations and group reporting. A successful candidate will have a hands-on attitude and is striving for process improvement by collaborating with other departments in the company. NA is an expanding market for Evolution and being able to support the organization when expanding in existing or entering new states will be a key deliverable for the accounting team. Evolution is investing in new software support for invoice management, why utilization of the new system to its full potential by automating processes will be a focus area for the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages the accounting staff primarily the payroll and accounts payable teams.
  • Recruits and hires accounting staff and conducts performance evaluations.
  • Actively developing the accounting staff by mentoring and supporting the members of the accounting team together with the Head of Finance NA.
  • Establishes internal controls according to group instructions for accounting and payroll processes.
  • Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with IFRS for group purposes and US GAAP for statutory requirements.
  • Shared responsibility with the tax manager for tax planning throughout the fiscal year; files annual corporate tax return.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations; coordinates with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit.
  • Lead the month end closing process including review of balance sheet reconciliations and reporting in the group consolidation tool (Cognos).
  • Works proactively with improving processes by effectively collaborating with the team and other departments in the company.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience required.
  • Certified Public Accountant designation preferred.
  • Documented experience of leading teams successfully and developing personnel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with both the local team and members of the global organization.
  • Can structure accounting and closing processes to ensure reporting deadlines are met.
  • Ability to translate tax requirements into journal entries and experience of managing tax requirements in multiple states is a considered to be a benefit.
  • Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software, especially Microsoft Dynamics NAV and/or Microsoft Business Central, and of course, Excel.
