Functional Consultant - Finance (eCommerce SaaS) | June 2026 Start

₹1,800,000 – ₹2,400,000 per year

TLDR

Own accounting issues for eCommerce merchants, troubleshoot discrepancies, guide on accounting fundamentals, and partner with diverse teams to enhance the ERP experience.

About the Role

You're the person merchants call when their numbers don't add up. When a Shopify payout doesn't reconcile with the P&L, when COGS looks off, when a multi-currency gap shows up, you dig in, find the root cause, and walk the merchant through it. These are high-growth eCommerce brands selling across Shopify, Amazon, Walmart, and TikTok Shop. They use Fulfil as their ERP, and you're their first point of contact when something doesn't tie out.

You'll work with merchants ranging from D2C founders doing their own books to finance teams at 9-figure brands, both of whom need you to be sharp, clear, and confident on the call. Internally, you'll partner with our Engineering, Implementation, and Success teams in Bangalore.

If you thrive on variety, own problems end-to-end, and can explain a multi-currency FX discrepancy to a non-accountant in under two minutes, keep reading.

About Fulfil

Fulfil is an ERP built for high-growth eCommerce brands. Our merchants run complex, multi-channel operations across Shopify, Amazon, Walmart, TikTok Shop, and beyond relying on Fulfil to keep their financials accurate, reconciled, and audit-ready.

What You'll Actually Do

Day-to-day, you will:

  • Own merchant accounting issues end-to-end: troubleshoot reconciliation discrepancies between Fulfil and sales channels like Shopify and Amazon, and walk merchants through exactly what went wrong and why

  • Guide merchants on eCommerce accounting fundamentals: support merchants with COGS tracking, inventory valuation, revenue recognition, and multi-channel transaction reconciliation within Fulfil

  • Implementation support: partner with the Implementation team on new merchant onboarding and advising on accounting workflow design, chart of accounts setup, and core financial configuration to ensure merchants go live on solid footing

  • Communicate clearly to diverse audiences: explain financial concepts to both technically savvy controllers and accountant-averse founders

  • Support merchants through audits: help them pull the right documentation and reconciliations from Fulfil

  • Advise on compliance and currency exposure: help merchants navigate sales tax across geographies (multiple US states, Canadian provinces, UK and others) and multi-currency accounting considerations

  • Lead product adoption: identify where merchants are underutilizing Fulfil’s financial features, run targeted training session and consult on process improvements to drive longer-term value

  • Collaborate cross-functionally: surface recurring merchant pain points to Implementation, Support, and Engineering teams to shape product enhancements

  • Leverage AI to move faster: use tools like Claude to clarify accounting treatments, compress context, or draft merchant updates

A realistic day might look like:

  • Helping come up with a cutover plan for a merchant migrating from their current accounting software to Fulfil

  • Helping a user troubleshoot and reconcile discrepancies within their ledger balances

  • Conducting a training session with users, consulting and providing best practices

  • Working closely with our product team by iterating on customer feedback

Requirements

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years of accounting, audit, or finance-SaaS implementation/support experience — at an eCommerce company, a multi-client accounting BPO with eCommerce clients, a US/UK-focused accounting BPO, or as a functional/implementation consultant on a finance ERP

  • Hands-on working experience reconciling and closing books, not just familiarity

  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and eCommerce-specific accounting: revenue recognition across channels, COGS, inventory valuation, and settlement reconciliation

  • Excellent customer-facing communication skills for daily live calls and async communication with North American merchants, including C-suite stakeholders

  • Comfort with ambiguity, context-switching, and ownership without waiting to be told what to do next

Nice to have

  • Experience at a US-focused accounting firm or eCommerce aggregator

  • Working knowledge of US multi-state sales tax compliance and multi-currency accounting

  • CA, CPA, or ACCA designation paired with demonstrated client-facing or advisory experience

  • Hands-on experience with NetSuite, Sage Intacct, QBO, Xero, Zoho Books, or Tally

Fair Warning

  • This role is not for someone looking for a traditional internal accounting or bookkeeping seat. Closing books is table stakes here, not the job, the job is sitting across from merchants and untangling their numbers with them.

  • It's not for someone who'd rather work behind a spreadsheet than on a Zoom call. You'll be live with North American merchants daily, founders, controllers, C-suite, explaining their numbers in plain language.

  • It's not for someone who needs the next step laid out for them. Tickets land messy, context shifts, and we figure it out in motion. The right person finds that fun.

  • And if AI is something you've been meaning to get around to, we're not the place to figure it out. You should be using Claude or similar tools in your workflow already.

Everyone Ships Every Day

We're building the ERP that fast-growing eCommerce brands actually want to use, which means we're taking on entrenched enterprise software with a small, intense team.

Big Tech and VC-backed startups are 400-horsepower engines running at 25% efficiency — bloated teams, endless meetings, six months to ship a feature. At Fulfil, we're a 200-horsepower engine running at 100%. We're bootstrapped, profitable, and growing steadily. No permission layers. No "alignment meetings" about alignment meetings. Everyone ships every day.

The work: You'll own meaningful problems with direct customer impact. Our customers run 24/7 operations across time zones, and when they're launching on BFCM or scaling from $10M to $100M, they need us to move fast. That urgency flows downstream. This is high-intensity work with real consequences.

What high-intensity actually means:

  • Most weeks are 45-55 hours; peak seasons (BFCM, major launches) hit 60+

  • Occasional off-hours calls with our distributed team or for customer launches

  • Long days (10+ hours) aren't uncommon

  • The work doesn't pause even if we try to protect your focus time

What you get in return:

  • Real autonomy over execution (we measure impact, not facetime)

  • Ownership of problems that matter to real businesses

  • Unlimited PTO, we actually want you to use (we'd rather you rest than burn out)

You'll thrive here if you get energy from building something that matters, want ownership over outcomes vs tasks, are open to direct feedback in public Slack channels, and like moving fast without red tape.

This isn't for you if you need a strict 40-hour boundary, prefer structured oversight, or want work to be a contained part of your life.

Fulfil builds a modern ERP platform designed specifically for high-growth eCommerce brands, seamlessly integrating order management, inventory, accounting, and more into one solution. By simplifying complex operations, we help merchants like HexClad and Ridge Wallet turn their business processes into a competitive advantage.
