Accountant (Temp to Perm)

Summary

We are looking for an Accountant to join our Finance team in Leuven. In this role you will support the financial department by managing daily accounting tasks. The ideal candidate will be well versed in Belgian accounting principles and demonstrate strong numerical skills with exceptional attention to detail. The goal is to contribute to the overall efficient operation of the department and help the company be fully aware of its financial condition.

Responsibilities

Your duties will include amongst others:

AP accounting:

• Register incoming invoices according to Belgian accounting and VAT principles and get them through the approval cycle;
• Payments of suppliers and reconciliation of outgoing payments;
• Review and register expense notes.

General accounting

• Book and reconcile bank statements;
• Register journal entries;
• Register payroll bookings;
• Register fixed assets and book depreciations;
• Register prepaid expenses and provisions;
• Filing Belgian VAT returns;
• Register prepaid expenses and provisions.

Profile

• Bachelor in a relevant field (Finance, Accountancy) or assimilated by experience.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in Belgium accounting rules and VAT.
• Excellent knowledge of English and good knowledge of Dutch (spoken & written).
• Great attention to detail.
• Good with numbers and figures and an analytical acumen.
• Good understanding of Belgian accounting and financial reporting principles and practices.
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with relevant computer software.
• Experience with NetSuite and/or Salesforce is a plus.
