We are seeking an experienced and highly competent Accountant to take full ownership of core accounting operations, statutory compliance, monthly financial closing, and financial reporting. This role is designed for a senior individual contributor with strong technical depth who can independently manage complex accounting processes and support management decision-making through accurate and timely financial information.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare payroll journals and allocate costs accurately across departments
File statutory deductions, including PAYE, NHIF, NSSF, NITA, FBT, VAT, and WHT
Ensure full compliance with Kenyan tax regulations and avoid penalties
Follow up on WHT certificates and manage ITAX reconciliations
Maintain and update the fixed asset register monthly
Record asset acquisitions, disposals, depreciation, and amortization
Support asset tagging exercises and coordinate insurance updates
Prepare CAPEX reports and analyze actuals against budget
Perform monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations
Prepare and submit monthly GM, margin, and management reports
Allocate facility and operational costs accurately
Reconcile revenue between financial systems
Track inter-company balances and settlements
Monitor prepayments and accruals to support a timely close
Prepare monthly cash flow projections and cash plans
Support liquidity management and working capital optimization
Review and process bank payments for approval
Maintain bank documentation, mandates, and signatories
Act as a liaison with banks and safeguard bank documents
Ensure timely and accurate client billing (local and international)
Address client billing queries and follow up on collections
Maintain revenue trackers and ensure proper posting in financial systems
Track inter-company recoveries and vendor-paid invoices
Support internal and external audits and prepare audit schedules
Post non-profit and grant-related expenses and track grant utilization
Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes
Promote continuous improvement in internal controls
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
CPA Section V or above (required)
Minimum 4 years relevant accounting experience (BPO/shared services experience preferred)
Strong knowledge of accounting standards and Kenyan tax laws
Hands-on experience with ERP/financial systems (Oracle, NetSuite, Adaptive or similar)
Advanced Excel and strong analytical skills
