Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the Australian business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration and must also take Australian public holidays into consideration. As a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

Who The Client Is: A company in the mining industry focused on exploring and developing nickel sulphide deposits. Their work centers on advancing key nickel projects through resource expansion, technical studies, and careful project planning. They aim to responsibly unlock value by identifying and developing high-potential mineral resources.

Role Overview: The Accountant will support the business by managing day-to-day financial activities, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring reliable reporting. This role involves handling reconciliations, accounts processing, month-end tasks, and financial documentation while working closely with operations and management. The ideal candidate brings strong attention to detail, solid technical accounting knowledge, and the ability to work across multiple priorities in a dynamic environment connected to construction and resource-related operations.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Process supplier invoices accurately and promptly.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Set up new supplier accounts and maintain accounts payable records.
  • Process employee expense claims and credit card expenses.
  • Prepare and schedule payment runs.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end reporting requirements.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and general ledger entries.
  • Prepare journals and supporting schedules.
  • Monitor project-related expenses and assist with cost tracking.
  • Provide reporting and administrative support to management as needed.

Requirements

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in a financial or general accounting role.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g. Pronto, Dynamics 365) and Microsoft Excel.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Good communication skills for coordinating with internal teams and external partners.
  • Experience in construction or resource industry accounting is an advantage.
  • Studying towards or holding an accounting qualification is preferred.
