The Account Executive, Payments is responsible for driving the adoption of Lightspeed Payments within Lightspeed's existing merchant base in North America. This is a dedicated cross-sell/upsell position focused on transitioning current Point of Sale (POS) customers to our proprietary, integrated payment processing solution.

Lightspeed Payments has been continually invested into since launch in 2019, integrating a number of unique value drivers into the combined POS-payments solution.  Building off of success our new business teams have experienced in selling the combined POS-payments solution, we are scaling our ability to sell payments into our existing merchant base, many of which became clients before we scaled Lightspeed Payments. 

This position reports to the Global Payments Sales Manager and is part of the Global Payments GTM team.

What you'll be doing:

The primary responsibility is to meet and exceed sales targets for Lightspeed Payments adoption among existing merchants.

  • Pipeline Management: Generate and manage sales opportunities using leads sourced from Account Managers, BDRs, direct phone/email outreach, and follow-up on company-led marketing campaigns.
  • Sales Execution: Manage the complete sales cycle from initial qualification and value presentation through pricing negotiation and contract closure.
  • Customer Launch: Partner with Onboarding teams to ensure a smooth transition and launch for merchants adopting Lightspeed Payments.
  • Internal Expertise: Serve as the internal Subject Matter Expert (SME) on payment processing for other units, providing guidance and training as required.
  • Product Feedback: Collect and relay merchant feedback regarding the payments product to the Product Management teams.
  • Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all sales activities, pipeline status, and opportunity notes in Salesforce.com.
  • Other Duties: Handle additional duties and responsibilities as defined by management.

What you need to bring:

Candidates must demonstrate the following qualifications and experience:

  • Payments Experience: Direct experience (3+ years) in the payment processing industry.
  • Sales Closing Role: Demonstrated experience (3+ years) in a closing role focused on technology or solution sales.
  • Opportunity Development: Proven ability to proactively generate and qualify new opportunities.
  • Target Achievement: Documented history of success in a revenue target or quota-based environment.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. French language skills are considered an asset.

At Lightspeed, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including your skill set, qualifications, experience, and market data. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. We reasonably expect the total compensation for this position to be in the range of $57,000 to 139,000 CAD. Lightspeed also provides a variety of employee benefits including, but not limited to, medical, dental, wellness, life and disability insurance, RRSP plan and match, paid parental leave top-up, and paid time off.Please note that this compensation information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within Ontario and reflects the amount Lightspeed is willing to pay at the time of this posting.
