We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Account Director to join our Client Services team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in product communications and a proven track record in account management. This role requires a self-starter with excellent attention to detail and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. The Account Director will work in close collaboration with the VP, SVP, and Client Relationship Leader to coordinate integrated programs that support the client's product initiatives and internal communications workstreams. Additionally, the successful candidate is expected to maintain a comprehensive understanding of activities across the franchise, including pipeline, corporate, social, advocacy, and R&D workstreams. As business operations span the entire franchise, the Account Director will be involved with or remain informed about all ongoing developments within these areas.
Job Responsibilities
  • Manage all facets of a multidimensional, interwoven team and provide sound, strategic counsel to ensure progress, action and results; keep senior leadership informed and bring them in when necessary to maintain high-quality service and execution
  • Develop thorough knowledge of client industry landscape, scientific approach and business objectives in order to identify strategic opportunities
  • Partner with subject matter experts (content strategy, social, earned media) to develop strategic programs that meet client goals
  • Work with a variety of clients who span more than one function
  • Develop wide array of communications materials and other deliverables (e.g., corporate/product narratives, messages and Q&As, results reports, etc.)
  • Support VP and above in developing plans, proposals and high-level deliverables (e.g., yearly planning)
  • Support project managers in managing account financials including staffing and projections, budget tracking and monthly billing packages to ensure team is on trend; liaise with client on budget recommendations
  • Ensure team meets deadlines, manages priorities and effectively communicates to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrate and nurture agency values and principles
  • Supervise junior staff and play an active role in their professional development; identify and champion both account-specific and agency-wide visibility opportunities for self and team members
Desired Skills and Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in communications, English or similar major
  • At least 5-8 years agency experience, including experience in healthcare and science communications/public relations
  • Experience supporting communications for pharma clients, or similar high-science communications experience preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, etc.) and familiarity with media tools (e.g., Cision, Bloomberg Terminal, HootSuite)
  • Knowledge of AI and AI tools
  • Be able to manage multiple projects and/or accounts simultaneously, demonstrate adaptability to new information and shifting priorities
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to excel in a team environment as well as work independently
  • Resourceful and effective problem solver with strong sense of urgency, proactivity and critical thinking skills

The anticipated salary range for this position will be $115,000-$140,000. Salary is based on job-related factors such as: years of relevant experience, qualifications and/or certifications. Spectrum reserves the right to modify this pay range at any given time.
