The Test Automation Engineer role is to design and execute automation tests, as well as develop and establish quality assurance standards and measures for the information technology services within the organization. The role is responsible for supporting the planning, design and execution of system testing on simple to complex implementations. The Test Automation Engineer works collaboratively within the IT department and business units to design and develop programs that execute test cases based upon system requirements. This will include researching issues in software through testing, and collaborating with QA analysts and software developers to develop solutions.. The Test Automation Engineer will apply proven analytical and problem-solving skills to help validate IT processes through careful testing in order to maximize the benefit of business investments in IT initiatives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned

· Design, develop, execute and verify test plans and scripts using automation and manual methods for functional testing

· Identify scenarios that can be automated; review automated scripts for consistency and performance

· Design, develop and execute automated testing using a variety of languages/tools.

· Report, track and retest identified defects

· Identify hardware, software, and database errors or problems

· Analyze and make recommendations to improve performance

· Communicate testing activities and findings in oral and written formats.

· Execute manual/automated test scripts to validate website’s expected performance level, this includes:

o Validate page links, usability across multiple browsers, benchmark standards for download timing, integrity of user authentication process and corporate compliance for website’s content.

o Identify deficiencies and update scripts where required base on website enhancements

· Communicate to developers the exact steps executed to reproduce reported defects

· Design, Build and Innovate a detailed automation framework and methodology for testing end2end, from frontend to backend, including mobile clients.

· Develop and maintain robust, scalable, reusable, data driven automated test scripts across test and production

· applications.

· Maintain and update an automation framework with a centralized test case repository in CI.

· Analyze performances and identify bottlenecks of web- frontend and the backend services

· Implement test process & execution and definition of work processes.

· Improve workflows and create scripts and tools for automation

· Evaluate and utilize the latest concepts, tools, and technologies

· Create and maintain technical documentation covering your areas.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent education required.

· Advanced understanding of GS1 Standards.

· Experience with testing and quality assurance in a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment.

· Experience designing and executing automation tests and understanding common errors

· Experience with test management and bug reporting tools like JIRA or similar tools

· Experience with using web analysis tools (Chrome Developer Tools, Web Developer Toolbar, etc.)

· Proficiency in one or more multi-user operating systems

· In-depth knowledge of software development life cycle, proficient with XML and json data structures

· Proficiency testing Web Services using SOAPUI, Postman or equivalent tools,

· Exposure to various automation tools (e.g. Selenium, UFT/QTP, and SoapUI)

· Hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server to perform data verification.

· Knowledge of internet browsers (e.g., Chrome, Internet Explorer, etc.)

· Proficiency in one or more multi-user operating systems

· Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

· Ability to perform independent work under minimal supervision

· Ability to work with and understand business client requirements

· Effective organizational and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure, adhere to project deadlines and procedures, multi-task and be detail-oriented
