2026 Summer Quantitative Modeling Intern

Overview/Summary:

KBRA is seeking talented individuals to join our summer internship program for Quantitative Modelling (QM) team, hosted from June 1 through August 6, 2026. QM supports Analyst teams by delivering conceptually sound quantitative models and analytical tools. This internship will provide you with the opportunity to gain firsthand experience into the life of a data scientist/quantitative analyst at a credit rating agency and to learn valuable skills coveted in any corporate setting. This internship will be based out of our New York office.

Key responsibilities may include:

  • Work closely with QM team to provide support for KBRA’s credit analysts.
  • Build, test and document quantitative models and analytical tools for credit risk assessment to support the work of KBRA’s credit analysts.
  • Contribute to ongoing projects and research support.
  • Participate in an intern group project.
  • Be exposed to senior level industry experts.
  • Have fun!

In addition to the work you will complete within your assigned department, there will be a capstone project to be presented to senior staff at the end of the internship. This project is meant to be an opportunity to apply existing skills and knowledge as well as what has been learned throughout the summer. There will also be opportunities to interact with fellow interns through Lunch and Learns, social events, and other enrichment workshops.

Successful candidates will possess the following:

  • Currently working towards a graduate degree in a technical or quantitative discipline like statistics, mathematics, physics, computer science or electrical engineering (required)
  • Working knowledge of common data science toolkits such as R, Python and SQL
  • Familiarity with data science collaboration strategies, including core management using git
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to collaborate and work in teams
  • Familiarity with Generative AI tools such as ChatGPT for research, data insights, and general productivity is a plus.

Base Pay

The anticipated base pay rate for the role will be $26 - $30/hour at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis by factors such as experience, level of education, skills, geography and other job-related factors.
