The Corporate Actuarial Data & Technology Team is a dynamic, growing team at Arch. This team implements innovative insurance pricing models and analytical tools to improve profitability and growth across a wide range of Property & Casualty insurance products.  

The SDET will develop automated tests for the platform supporting real-time rating engines that calculate insurance premiums. They will be responsible for the creation and improvement of the automated testing framework that enables the development of our organizational goals and deliverables. They provide technical guidance and ensure the use of sound engineering practices. As a key member of the Corporate Actuarial Data & Technology data engineering team, they will advance our implementation capabilities and help our team deliver solutions faster.  

Job Responsibilities

• Test and support best-in-class real time rating implementations leveraging a diverse set of tools 

• Work with strategic partners to solve business problems by developing testing solutions  

• Configure automated testing workflows on cloud infrastructure 

• Create and maintain robust testing CI/CD pipelines to evaluate stability and performance for rating engine and API deployment 

• Validate database integrity in conjunction with API development 

• Work with development team to improve implementation and testing practices 

• Provide the appropriate level of documentation of sources and technical solutions 

• Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements 

• Build strong partnerships with peers across the organization to support implementation-related goals  

• Explore new technologies with curiosity and creativity 

Desired Skills/Experience

• The ideal candidate has 3+ years of software engineering in test (SDET) experience working with Python, SQL, and web application frameworks such as Django 

• Demonstrated experience testing and maintaining production REST APIs 

• Knowledge of HTTP/S protocol, including requests, responses, and status codes 

• Ability to apply common data structures and algorithms 

• SQL proficiency, especially T-SQL  

• Excellent critical thinking skills to tackle complex engineering challenges 

• Strong written and verbal communication skills for working across teams 

• Strong organizational skills and very detail oriented 

• Exceptional collaboration and relationship building skills 

• Comfortable working in a fast paced, highly collaborative environment 

• Comfortable adapting to changing priorities and refining ambiguous requirements
