Lab Summary:
North America Bixby Lab (NABL) works on a product called Bixby. Bixby is an intelligent personal assistant which is only available as a built-in application on Samsung flagship devices and wearables. This application uses Natural Language Understanding to perform tasks on these devices using voice/ text, including but not limited to making phone calls, sending text messages, setting up meetings, opening apps, setting alarms and timers, getting directions, answering general questions, providing information about restaurants and other businesses and so on. At NABL we work on solving various problems that go into building an intelligent assistant like Automatic Speech Recognition, Natural Language Understanding, Text To Speech and software platforms that drive and integrate all of the aforementioned components to form Bixby.
Position Summary:
In this role, you will maintain, refine, and evolve our Java A.I. platform. In addition to being the brain of Bixby, by dynamically writing programs able to find an answer to our users’ questions, this platform also exposes a powerful layer for 3rd party developers to design, develop, debug, and train models used by our A.I. backend.
Please note that this position requires the candidate to work on-site in our Mountain View office at least twice a week.

The hourly pay rate range for roles at this level is $39 and $54 but may be higher or lower in other states due to geographic differentials in the labor market. Within the hourly pay rate range, individual rates depend on a number of factors—including the role’s function and location as well as the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, education and training.
