2023 AI x No-Code Residency

Generative AI is transforming how engineers write code on the job.

No-Code is expanding who can be a software developer by allowing anyone to build fully-featured production applications without having to code.

What does it look like when you combine them?

Bubble is the leading No-Code web app development platform, serving as the primary tech stack for companies backed by YCombinator, Sequoia, and other leading investors. We want to build the GitHub Copilot for No-Code: users describe their applications in natural language, and we produce fully-functional no-code web apps where the “source code” can be understood by anyone, not just engineers.

We are hiring two exceptional, product-minded AI researchers for an exploratory residency to help us define the parameters of this vision:

• Can LLMs be trained to output Bubble’s no-code language? 
• What potential product experiences could we build to take advantage of this capability?
• What commercial or open-source AI packages are best suited to tackle this problem?

The residents will be reporting directly to the Co-CEO and head of engineering, Josh Haas.

This paid residency will be three months long, with an option to extend for another three months based on research results. Start date will be determined in consultation with the two residents, targeting late spring / early summer. This is a remote work opportunity, but residents in the NYC area are invited to work out of Bubble’s Manhattan office.

Qualifications:

• Current graduate student, undergrad doing graduate-level work, or recent graduate
• Prior industry or independent research experience building AI / ML systems
• Breadth of knowledge about the state-of-the-art of generative AI
• Excellent coding skills; fluency in either Python or Javascript
• Experience with full-stack development preferred
• Demonstrated ability to project manage, operate independently, and work through hard problems. There will not be much mentorship or hand-holding for this project and we are looking for people who are already confident in their skillset and eager to dig their teeth into a real, important challenge

Compensation: $30,000 for each 3 month period
