This is hands-on learning with cutting-edge technology: phacoemulsification, ERG, UBM, laser surgery, and microsurgical techniques. You'll work alongside experienced specialists on a range of casesbfrom cataract surgery (we're the only WA clinic performing them) to exotic species and zoo animals.

About the Role

Perth Animal Eye Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Ophthalmology Intern to join for 12 months at its referral-only practice in the heart of Perth. Get direct experience with advanced diagnostics (slit lamp biomicroscopy, UBM, ERG), surgical procedures (cataract surgery, laser therapy, cryosurgery), and complex medical cases across dogs, cats, equine, and exotics. This isn't watching from the sidelines you'll be actively involved from day one with structured mentorship from our specialist team.

Requirements

A degree in Veterinary Science and be eligible for registration in Western Australia 

Strong interest in veterinary ophthalmology and specialist referral practice

Compassionate, motivated, and committed to delivering high standards of patient care

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with referring veterinarians, clients, and the hospital team

Willingness to learn, take direction, and thrive in a collaborative, specialist-led environment

Located in Perth or willing to relocate for the duration of the internship
