POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a proactive Workshop Controller to ensure the profitability of our workshops while delivering exceptional service to our valued customers. In this key role, you will oversee vehicle repairs, including both chargeable and warranty work, with a focus on growing the business year on year.

You’ll be responsible for supervising the workshop, optimising labour capacity, and controlling indirect costs to maximise both efficiency and profit. With strong leadership skills, you will guide and support our productive staff to meet and exceed management and business targets.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Ensure the workshop is operating at high level of labour efficiency.
  • Communicate to all staff to ensure their understanding on all production requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy and safe operating environment in the workshop.
  • Liaise with Parts staff and Sales Engineers/Commercial Management to ensure timely delivery of completed work to customers.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with customers by keeping them advised on progress on repairs
  • Maintain a level of administration to ensure easy costing and invoicing on completion of repairs.
  • Manage, comply and promote the company’s Health & Safety and ISO Quality policies and procedures.
  • Be reliable, flexible and self-motivated with a positive attitude to fellow workers and customers.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • Experienced in vehicle repairs to an industry standard through on the job training and/or professional qualifications.
  • Full driving license.
  • Vocational PSV or HGV licenses an advantage.
  • Experienced in either PCV or HGV repair and maintenance environments.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Management experience with strong leadership and motivational skills.
  • Ability to plan to meet delivery deadlines and promises.
  • Good Understanding of Bus Coach & commercial vehicle systems.
  • To be able to demonstrate, understand and be compliant in vehicle maintenance procedures and VOSA Standards.
  • To be converse in the various Body/mechanical repair techniques.
  • A good understanding in vehicle electrical systems.
