About The Role
Humane's Wireless Engineering team works cross-functionally with Electrical Engineering, Software, Product Design, Industrial Design, Program Management, and Operations to deliver a successful product to market. As a Wireless Software Engineering Manager on our team, you will be responsible for software engineering design and development for wireless features. You will be working with novel implementations of Cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GNSS, amongst other technologies. You will assemble, organize, and guide a team of engineers to accomplish product objectives.
What You Might Do
- Lead all wireless software development efforts, defining clear objectives aligned with the product’s vision, and executing against a product timeline
- Develop firmware and software to prototype, implement, validate, and deploy state-of-the-art wireless capabilities across a product portfolio
- Architect and implement algorithms to improve connectivity, performance, and power consumption
- Define processes for the software team, including architecture, design, code review, test, failure analysis and mitigation
- Foster a culture of innovation, excellence, and collaboration within cross-functional teams and external partners
- Cultivate a learning environment that encourages continuous professional growth and knowledge sharing
Essential Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in wireless firmware or software development
- 2+ years of experience working with WiFi / Bluetooth / Cellular technologies
- 1+ years of experience with Android or Linux kernel development, having developed software services and frameworks
- 2+ years of people management experience
- Fluent proficiency in one or more of the following development languages: Java, C, C++, Objective C
- Strong software engineering foundation, including object-oriented design, programming, and debugging
- Knowledge of radio standards and associated protocols (i.e. 3GPP 5G-NR, LTE-A, WCDMA, IEEE 802.11, Bluetooth, GNSS), associated protocols
- Experience working with Design, Operating Systems, Backend Services, Software QA, Certification, and Manufacturing teams
- Ability to collaborate in a team environment
- Ability to drive tasks independently and communicate issues/root-cause analysis clearly
- Experience presenting to senior leadership
Preferred Skills
- Experience with designing software optimized for low-power operation, low-latency connectivity, and robust wireless performance with coexistence mitigation
- Experience with scoping features, mapping technical capabilities across software, and assessing required development work
- Experience with integration of third-party APIs
- Experience with collecting diagnostics reports, log analysis, and report preparation
- Experience working with silicon vendors and associated toolchains
- Experience working with development hardware and hardware development milestones
- Understanding of TCP/IP protocols, networking, and security
- Hands-on experience working with lab equipment for measuring system performance, (i.e. protocol testers and analyzers, one-box testers, call-box testers, network signal analyzers)
Salary Range: $185,000-$240,000

- The salary range for this role is listed above. Final salary offered is based upon multiple factors including individual job-related qualifications, education, experience, knowledge and skills
