Windows Management & Software Release Engineer

Primary Function of Position:

As a member of our Fleet System and Product Operations Engineering team, the Windows Management and Software Release Engineer will work with both operations and product development teams to robustly package software builds and remotely deploy them to thousands of critical customer devices all over the world. This position’s work would involve build systems, CI/CD and Configuration Platforms such as MECM with a focus on the Windows operating system. Successful candidates would bring both operational expertise and a strong software engineering approach to drive efficient software deployment processes and ensure optimal system performance.

 Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead Windows applications configuration management and release processes
  • Ensure seamless deployment across multiple remote systems
  • Develop and maintain Powershell scripts to automate packaging, deployment and configurations tasks in an effort to improve efficiency.
  • Collaborate with software development teams to understand application requirements and dependencies
  • Implement best practices for version control, branching and merging strategies using Git
  • Facilitate traceability and code management
  • Manage software deployments using MECM, ensuring compliance with organizational standards and security policies
  • Conduct regular system audits to identify configuration drifts and implement corrective measures
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise to resolve deployment issues and system optimization
  • Submit and communicate changes as needed using change control methodology
  • Receive and respond to escalations from field support, DevOps teams and product team
  • Escalate issues to management, if necessary
  • Collaborate with team as well as cross functional team members daily
  • Helps promote an environment that cultivates teamwork
  • Provides guidance, creates processes and direction to operation engineers
  • Execute the Intuitive strategies in a cost effective and timely manner
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices in risk management techniques and integrate new methods/tools as appropriate
  • Create and maintain all aspects of documentation relative to responsibilities and processes
  • Create custom reports tracking environment and device performance
  • Work with process development team to implement and integrate new/improved process workflow
  • Manage and maintain Windows IoT systems at enterprise scale
  • Manage Windows system hardening
  • Manage software deployment through Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager and Intune
  • Document enterprise Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Work Instructions (WI) and systems
  • As Subject Matter Expert, takes a leadership role on executing projects/initiatives
  • As required. conduct and host regularly scheduled meetings
  • Create and support PowerBI reporting
  • Be able to execute ad-hoc projects as assigned by management
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline; or 4+ years’ experience of Software Engineering or Software Development and 3+ years of Windows Device Administration
  • Strong administrative and record-keeping skills
  • Strong analysis, troubleshooting, and debugging skills
  • Experience using Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager
  • MSI, MSIX, and EXE Software packaging and deployment through MECM and Intune
  • Deploying device drivers, BIOS updates, Windows security patches, and security intelligence updates to enterprise devices
  • Automated Windows OS and registry changes to enterprise devices
  • Elite PowerShell scripting
  • Strong coding or scripting skills in at least one language (e.g. Python, C#)
  • Experience interfacing with CI/CD systems
  • Experience with Git version control
  • Expertise in the Windows operating systems (Win10, and Windows server)
  • Strong analysis, troubleshooting, and debugging skills
  • Self-manage workload with moderate supervision
  • Experience working in Azure, Azure AD, Entra, Intune, and manage Azure resources
  • Experience supporting device PKI
  • Familiar with managing RBAC
  • Experience with server virtualization and virtual server management (Microsoft and VMware)
  • Experience managing Windows systems through industry-standard Microsoft tools
  • Experience with Active Directory Services
  • Experience managing physical and virtual storage as well as access permissions
  • Demonstrate strong analysis, troubleshooting, and debugging skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Self-manage workload with moderate supervision
  • Learn quickly, and effectively manage workloads as a part of a team and individually.
  • Thoroughness in completing tasks is imperative.
  • Be able to execute ad-hoc projects as assigned by management
