Wet End Helper

Wilsonart, Temple, Texas has an immediate opening for a Wet End Helper.   This individual will prepare dry decorative papers and overlay material to run through the treater under the direction of the checker/Crewleader/supervisor. Performs other tasks as needed

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Inspect material for defects
  • Inspect material for defects
  • Do required inventory transactions
  • Obtain rolls of material based on treater schedule (oldest P.O. first) and prepare for staging or unwind turret
  • Return decorative rolls to roll inventory locations
  • Monitor and clean resin in-line pump system
  • Assist dry end operation as needed
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Clean the treater
  • Repackage and return material to the raw material inventory
  • Transfer empty chemical drums from plant to drum storage area
  • Participates in the Lean process.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of safety standards applicable to the Melamine Department and other pertinent rules/regulations
  • governing work standards
  • Ability to understand and follow directions
  • Ability to work with other team members to accomplish the department’s goals and objectives
  • Ability to identify patterns and finishes
  • Ability to be comfortable and safety conscious when operating machinery
  • Knowledge of computers sufficient to perform Oracle WIP transactions
  • Must be trained to operate fork/clamp lift and Drexel lift
  • Able to read a tape measure
  • Knowledge of mathematics as it applies to treater operation

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

 

EDUCATION:

High School Graduate or GED.

 

EXPERIENCE:

(6) months melamine experience.  If no candidates possess this experience, then six (6) months phenolic experience will be accepted.  If no candidates possess this experience, then the Company will accept six (6) months experience in Manufacturing or Distribution

 

     PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking/pushing/climbing and lifting material or equipment of heavy weight of 50 - 100 pounds.

 

Position consists of working rotating shift work to include week-ends.

 

ENVIRONMENT: Located in an environment with regular exposure to fumes or odors, temperature extremes, or loud noises which cause noticeable discomfort or moderate risk of accident or illness. Examples: engineering, waste mgt, laundry workers and yards/grounds staff
