Who we are

Element develops a secure, sovereign and interoperable communications platform, devised primarily for government, defence and public sector organisations. 

We are a for-profit company that is committed to open source. We build Element on top of an open protocol called Matrix, which was created by the same team that leads Element. Matrix is a not-for-profit open source project.

Element works closely with BWI on the BwMessenger for the German Armed Forces, NATO, the United Nations, Gematik on TI-Messenger for the German healthcare industry, and Germany’s Federal Ministry of the Interior and Home Affairs and Dataport on the development of a sovereign workplace for public administration.

The role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Commercial Manager to assist our Account Executives and Solution Architects in managing the day to day operations of the commercial process. This role is essential in ensuring smooth running of the process of selling, customer onboarding as well as hand-over between pre- and post-sales stages, contributing to customer satisfaction and retention.

This role will be both internal and external facing, requiring excellent communication skills and strong organisation. Beyond the customer facing team (Account Executives, Solutions Architects, Account Managers) you will work closely with Revenue Operations, Legal and Finance. 

Responsibilities

  • Contracting Process: Drive and coordinate the contracting process by putting together the right documentation, tracking pending actions, document versions, signatures and ensure good communication between all parties
  • Record keeping and reporting: Ensure an accurate record keeping of a deal’s documentation and customer interactions in Salesforce
  • Process optimisation: Work with Revenue Operations, Legal and Finance to help improve the process, ensuring data integrity and process optimization
  • Customer Relationship Coordination: Support the Commercial team with the logistics of the customer relationship, e.g. schedule meetings, manage action points, share requested material, etc.
  • Translations: Support legal teams with translations (using tools like Deepl) to avoid misunderstandings
  • Customer Onboarding Process: Helping new customers with onboarding processes and ensuring they have all necessary materials and information to start successfully.

Depending on bandwidth other responsibilities may include:

  • Post-Sales Support and Feedback: Gather customer feedback during Proof of Concepts and/or after onboarding to evaluate satisfaction levels and identify areas for improvement.
  • Sales enablement Support: Organise, sales enable events like webinars, demos or workshop and support the marketing team by helping translate marketing material German and English
  • Strategic Market Research: Customer intelligence, competitor analysis, feedback loop on industry trends reports

Requirements

  • Language Skills: Fluent in both German and English, with the ability to conduct meetings and onboarding sessions in German.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a customer-centric approach.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work closely with Account Executives, Solution Architects, and other teams to support customer needs.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment, taking on new responsibilities as needed.
  • Comfortable with dealing with legal documents.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience or internship in customer support, account management, or related fields is a plus.
  • Familiarity with CRM tools such as Salesforce, Jira, and general office software (e.g., MS Office, Google Workspace), or comfortable with onboarding to new online tools.
  • Business, marketing or related studies - student applications are welcome.
