Relativity is hiring a

Welder II

Cape Canaveral, United States

Company Overview:

At Relativity Space, we have two audacious goals: to build the next great commercial launch company with Terran R and to become America's leading force in additive manufacturing innovation. Both contribute to our long-term vision of creating humanity’s industrial base on Mars, paving the way for interplanetary life to expand the possibilities of the human experience. This journey begins right here on Earth – where we design, build, and fly rockets to deliver customer payloads to orbit. Terran R, our medium-to-heavy lift reusable rocket, fulfills the growing demand for launch capacity, thanks to our iterative approach that accelerates design, testing, and development while minimizing costs. While our groundbreaking research and development in 3D printing pushes the boundaries of large-scale additive manufacturing.

Your journey with us is more than just a job – it’s an opportunity to shape the future of aerospace technology, additive manufacturing, and the human experience alongside a community of passionate, creative individuals. Join us on this extraordinary journey, as we work together to transform our vision into reality.

About the Team:

The launch operations team is a part of the Cape Canaveral launch site and is primarily responsible for the operational aspects of vehicle integration, payload integration, pad operations, countdown operations, recovery, and reusability. In the last year, the launch operations team was primarily focused on the final integration, checkouts, and execution of flying Terran 1. This includes everything from completing the vehicle final build to clearing the range of aircraft and vessels for launch to being the key operators in the countdown operation. In the last six months, the team has been supporting our team in Stennis with engine testing development and execution. In parallel, the team is working hand in hand with engineering teams on the design and build of critical infrastructure to support Terran R.

As a Welder II at Relativity Space, you will be in the forefront of creating a world class orbital launch site. You will work to fabricate and install cryogenic, gaseous, and propellant piping systems in support of the Terran-R launch pad buildout and integrated operations while working with a dynamic world-class lean team of fabricators.

About You:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in combo welding with the following materials: carbon steel, stainless steel (300-series), aluminum, and Inconel alloys
  • Weld preparation to include cutting, chamfering, fit-up, and cleaning
  • Must be able to pass a practical weld test in all positions
  • Experience operating material handling equipment (forklift, telehandler, overhead cranes with basic rigging) as well as having a deep understanding of industry safety standards
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings

Nice to haves but not required:

  • Experience around high-pressure gas and cryogenic systems
  • Experience with construction/demolition activities
  • Experience working in an aerospace environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as strong attention to detail, desire to solve problems, and drive to resolve technical issues
