Hermeus is an aerospace and defense technology company founded to radically accelerate air travel by delivering hypersonic aircraft. The company aims to develop hypersonic aircraft quickly and cost-effectively by integrating hardware-rich, iterative development with modern computing and autonomy. This approach has been validated through design, build, and test of the company’s first combined turbojet-ramjet engine and is now being scaled through its first flight vehicle program, Quarterhorse. Hermeus is also developing Darkhorse — an uncrewed hypersonic aircraft designed to deliver unique asymmetric capabilities to the warfighter.

Hermeus is seeking a skilled Welder/Fitter to join our growing team at our newest facility in Florida. As a Welder/Fitter, you will be responsible for the construction, activation, and maintenance of our test facility to ensure the reliability and performance of Hermeus aircraft engines. This position will collaborate in a cross functional working environment and contribute to the development of cutting-edge aerospace technologies.

This position is for minimum of a 6-month contract with the opportunity to extend.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to operate welding machines; including arc welders, MIG welders, TIG welders, and plasma cutters · Perform pressure testing on piping systems to ensure they function properly and repair any issues
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, following all safety protocols and procedures.
  • Work with engineering to review drawings and specifications to plan welding operations
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Available to work overtime and weekends
  • 5+ years of practical experience welding in a field environment
  • Ability to perform precision cutting, fitting, fabrication and assembling using standard tools, procedures and best shop practices
  • Must be experienced as a combo welder with the ability to fabricate and weld carbon structure, carbon pipe and stainless pipe
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, perform weld procedures using best practices · Perform welds in various positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead).
  • Must be able to pass a weld test.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Highly proficient in tube/pipe cutting, grinding and fabrication
  • Knowledge in occupational hazards and effective safety precautions of the trade
  • Use of precision measuring instruments
  • Experience in pressure testing, cleaning, and final installing of completed weldments
  • 5+ years of professional experience in GTAW welding with two or more of the following materials: stainless steel, carbon steel, Inconel, aluminum or titanium

  • Work at elevated heights and confined spaces.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Stoop, bend, crawl, and maneuver in tight spaces.
  • Work outdoors, in all weather conditions.
