Felsburg Holt & Ullevig is seeking an entrepreneurial, self-starting, and energetic mid-level water resources engineer looking to advance their career at a forward-thinking firm focused on delivering excellence in transportation! The ideal candidate is expected to have 4-10 years of experience and will work out of our Denver South or Fort Collins office.
This selected candidate will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of complex water resources projects ranging from hydrology and hydraulics support for transportation projects to standalone projects, such as stream restoration, floodplain analysis, and major outfall systems.
- Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Roadway drainage design including hydrology and hydraulics for projects including roadside ditches, curb and gutter sections, complex storm sewer design with utility conflicts, retrofitting storm sewer design, and coordinating with existing downstream systems.
- Stormwater quality and detention design including post construction stormwater quality control measures (SCMs) recommended by CDOT and MHFD, Construction Control Measures for sediment and erosion control, and general familiarity with common Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) permits requirements.
- Bridge and culvert hydraulic analysis, including sizing proposed structures, analyzing existing structures, scour analysis, design for scour protection for minor to major outfalls, and scour countermeasure design for bridges.
- Floodplain analysis including HEC-RAS (1D and 2D) to support documentation for floodplain development permit applications, and preparing Conditional Letter of Map Revision and Letter of Map Revision applications to FEMA.
- Use computer assisted engineering design software to prepare engineering and design documents as needed. This includes the preparation of plans, profiles, details, quantity tabulations, construction costs, reports and specifications.
- Supports construction projects by reviewing submittals, answering RFI’s, and conducting field visits to ensure compliance with the contract drawings and specifications.
- Assist in preparing scope, budget, and scheduling of projects and for proposals.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited four-year college or university with an emphasis on water resources. Master’s degree considered a plus.
- 5-10 years of experience in water resources design with an emphasis on roadway drainage design and stormwater quality design.
- Experience in AutoCAD, Civil3D, and Bentley OpenRoads Designer
- Experience with hydrology and hydraulic modeling software like CUHP, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, CulvertMaster, HY8, FlowMaster, StormCAD, SewerGems, EPA SWMM, etc.
- Experience with 2-D modeling (SMS/SRH-2D and/or HEC-RAS 2D) considered a plus.
- Experience with CDOT is highly desired
- Experience with client contact and project coordination
- Stream restoration/stabilization knowledge and experience considered a plus.
- Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- PE license required in Colorado
The pay for this position has a range of $72,000 - $90,000 annually. The actual offer will carefully consider a range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, and experience.
