About the Opportunity
We are looking to add a capable and hardworking Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to our team to help build our growing Water and Wastewater engineering practice!
Are you keen to benefit from the support of industry professionals while working on exciting and inspiring projects that make a visible difference in many communities? You will get to hone your technical skills, apply theory, and provide workable solutions for infrastructure design and planning for water and wastewater systems and facilities, including:
Working on a range of water and wastewater projects, including treatment plants, pump stations, and collection and distribution systems.
- Working on design for municipal utility facilities including equipment selection, facility layout and sizing, piping design, as well as preparing design briefs, reports, cost estimates, and contract documents.
- Learning water and sanitary system modelling and analysis using WaterCAD and PCSWMM.
- Reviewing drawings, reports, and other deliverables provided by clients, internal teams, and subconsultants.
- Attending project meetings and collaborating with clients/contractors/internal team members while listening, communicating, and developing consulting and project documentation skills.
- Supporting the project management of design and construction of projects.
- Contract administration and field inspection of construction projects.
- Developing strong relationships internally to understand our service offerings and the team members you’ll be working with.
About You
The right candidate for this opportunity will be a recent graduate with a civil, chemical, mechanical, or environmental engineering degree with up to 2 years of work experience. A degree program with a water and wastewater focus would be an asset. In addition, the core skills and attributes that will help you succeed include:
- You have a keen interest in pursuing a career working on water and wastewater projects in Western Canada.
- You take initiative, have problem-solving skills, and enjoy working hard to deliver value.
- You have an interest in seeking out opportunities to collaborate with people of varying backgrounds and perspectives.
- You possess a strong attention to detail, and the ability to continually deliver high quality work.
- You have the ability to work on multiple projects at a time and thrive in a self-directed work environment.
- Previous experience working on water and wastewater municipal projects, water resource projects, or with related software is considered an asset.
- You are willing and able to travel to project sites throughout Western Canada.
- You are an Engineer-in-Training and are registered with APEGA or an equivalent provincial or territorial association.
- You have a valid class 5 drivers’ license.
