Primary Function of the Position
Reporting into the Systems Logistics Manager / Site Leader, the Warehouse Supervisor role is primarily responsible for leading a team of Material Handlers and delivering exceptional performance results related to inventory movements, order processing time and warehouse optimization. This role will primarily partner with Logistics Coordination teams, as well as sharing best practices across other company warehousing teams.
Essential Job Duties
- Hire, train, develop and motivate warehouse personnel to follow procedures, maintain high quality standards, uphold inventory accuracy requirements, achieve department goals and drive high productivity
- Conduct recurring performance reviews for direct reports, supplementing with recurring performance discussions with direct reports to assist their skill development and career progression
- Create and maintain documented procedures defining Receiving, Material Movement/Storage, Kitting, Shipping, and Labeling
- Maintain data in compliance with SOX, FDA and regulatory controls including timely and accurate record-keeping for Inventory, Receiving and Shipping transactions
- Optimize operational efficiency through application of Lean/Six-Sigma methods with both internal and external stakeholders
- Responsible for short-term problem containment and long-term corrective action for performance or quality-related incidents
- Support cycle count / inventory accuracy efforts by maintaining good transaction hygiene and well-organized warehouse utilizing 5S/7S ideas
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in Manufacturing, Warehousing or Operations, preferably within the Medical Device and/or Large Capital Equipment industries
- Proficient in the use of computers to perform daily work – including ERP/MRP systems, Microsoft Office applications, and Agile/PLM tools
- Ability to move packages weighing up to 25 lbs. (otherwise, use of forklift equipment)
- Demonstrated knowledge of kanban systems, WMS, kitting operations, process flow mapping, root cause analysis and problem solving
- Proven communication skills (written and verbal), and demonstrating high emotional intelligence to work most effectively with teammates, direct reports and cross-functional departments
- Ability to maintain and provide safe working conditions, which may require partnership with Facilities and Shared Service teams
Required Education and Training
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent applicable work experience
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Lean / Six-Sigma Fundamentals – preferrable to have Yellow or Green Belt Certification
- Familiarity with collective software applications (Tableau/Dashboard tools, Box/Smartsheet files)
- Planning / Budgeting resource requirements (tools, equipment, people, etc)
- Effective time-management skills to triage task and project completion based on importance and urgency
Working Conditions
- Ability to move packages weighing up to 25 lbs. (otherwise, use of forklift equipment)
- Environmental, Health and Safety awareness and capability to support initiatives to maintain and improve workplace conditions
- Ability to travel between intercampus sites to work directly with cross-functional teams on an as-needed basis
