Overview of Role
Heretic’s stealth portfolio company, a groundbreaking consumer marketplace which has raised substantial funding, is seeking a seasoned operating executive with at least 10 years of professional experience to lead all aspects of its supply chain and operations. 
The VP Supply Chain and Operations will own customer product satisfaction as well as the speed of rollout to new categories.  S/he will build the marketplace’s suppliers and manage the end-to-end supply chain for the fulfillment of goods from this community.  The VP Supply Chain and Operations will ensure the cost effectiveness, reliability, and quality of our core operations.

S/he will also manage the company’s customer service operation, which is not a first line of response, but only an escalation point for customers.

This is a unique opportunity to help build a billion-dollar company from the ground up while learning from successful repeat entrepreneurs and a stable of powerful and experienced mentors and advisors. 

This role reports directly to the company’s CEO, is based in San Francisco, California, and requires an in-office commitment of 4 days per week.  There will be significant international travel associated with this role - candidates should expect to travel outside the US every 4 weeks. The position is compensated with salary, benefits, and equity.

Heretic Ventures is a San Francisco-based venture studio ideating and launching new businesses in the creator economy, including those that capitalize on AI/ML technology. Heretic is run by Managing Partner Mariam Naficy, who founded and built the pioneering internet companies Minted and Eve.com. Heretic is backed by household names in Silicon Valley (investors and entrepreneurs), who act as the studio’s advisors both in selecting and in advising companies.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in scaling operations within consumer e-commerce, with oversight over supply chain, manufacturing, fulfillment, and customer service
  • Experience managing international operations required
  • Experience in management consulting is a big plusE
  • xperience in product management applied to fulfillment and customer service systems with e-commerce a big plus
  • Entrepreneurial and ownership mindset with bias for action.  Prepared to move with speed to outpace competitors. 
  • Prepared to roll sleeves up and be hands on
  • Unconventional thinker, willing to rethink traditional ways of doing things and reinvent everything they have seen in the pastInstinct for building 2-sided marketplaces and an understanding of their levers
  • Strong experience and knowledge of manufacturing, sourcing, supply chain and quality control across multiple consumer categories, but able to make a mindset shift to managing a marketplace which does not take inventory or directly control manufacturing
  • Knowledge of business processes, industry dynamics, short & long-term impacts, supplier capabilities and manufacturing practices, general market conditions, etc
  • Proven leadership and team building skills, and a passion for identifying and nurturing talent
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, contracting, communication (verbal & written), influence and leadership skillsProficiency working with spreadsheets, data analytics, along with the ability to communicate results both verbally and in writing
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • MBA required
