VP, Stop the Cabinet Appointments

Location: Remote (within the U.S.)

We’re looking for a senior leader with deep knowledge of power brokers within the Senate to spearhead the Stop Cabinet Appointments program now that we are faced with four more years of a Trump presidency.

Description

Stopping Trump's cabinet appointments will be a key priority to ensure the worst of Trump’s tendencies cannot advance. Movement Labs is seeking a dynamic, execution-oriented team leader to spearhead our initiative focused on stopping Trump cabinet appointments that threaten progressive values. This position will organize power against his most extreme appointments in critical Senate target states, especially Maine and Alaska, but also North Carolina, Utah, Indiana, South Carolina, and Ohio. The ideal candidate is a seasoned leader with proven ability to build and execute progressive Congressional advocacy campaigns, particularly focused on the Senate. They are well-networked within the capitol building, know how to leverage grasstops and grassroots power to win campaigns, and can drive a team forward with ferocious pace.

Key Responsibilities

• Pace Setting and Creative Program Execution: In coordination with with state based leaders, ensure plans are executed and resourced by Movement Labs
• Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement comprehensive strategies to halt harmful cabinet appointments, prioritizing key states.
• Power Mapping: Utilize power mapping techniques to identify and engage key stakeholders, legislators, and grassroots organizations to build a coalition against specific appointments.
• Outreach and Mobilization: Design and execute mass outreach campaigns supported by Movement Labs, utilizing organized and other outreach methods to galvanize public opinion and pressure decision-makers.
• Resource Management: Oversee budget and resource allocation for initiatives related to stopping cabinet appointments.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in the Senate, including leadership experience.
• Deep understanding of the legislative process, especially as it relates to cabinet appointments and federal policy.
• Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate complex policy issues into accessible messaging.
• Proven leadership experience with a track record of managing teams and driving collaborative efforts.
• Proficiency in using digital tools and platforms for outreach and engagement.
• Passion for progressive causes and commitment to social justice.
