PLANNED PARENTHOOD OF THE ST. LOUIS REGION AND SOUTHWEST MISSOURI
           
POSITION TITLE:  Vice President of Marketing and Communications
STATUS:                   Full Time, Exempt
REPORTS TO:         President and CEO
SALARY: $120,000-$140,000

Planned Parenthood St Louis Region and Southwest Missouri (PPSLRSWMO) offers a robust benefits package. 
Employer Paid:
Healthcare: Approximately $100 per pay period
Life Insurance: Equal to one year’s salary up to $100,000
Paid Parental Leave: 8 weeks of full salary after the event (birth or adoption)

POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible overall direction and strategy for three primary aspects of Planned Parenthood programs:  marketing and patient acquisition programs; integrated internal and external communications; and messaging and reputation management. This position has overall responsibility for setting strategies that advance our mission, expand our patient and education users, expand our base of community and philanthropic support, enhance our brand identity, and support the organization’s revenue and operational goals. This position may fulfill the cell phone reimbursement policy requirements.
 
PRIMARY DUTIES PERFORMED
 Marketing and Patient Acquisition
·  Create the overall marketing strategy for attracting and retaining patients, working with staff and patient services managers 
·  Determine needs/opportunities for patient recruitment in all markets within the agency's service area.
·  Develop and implement annual marketing plan
·  Utilize data, analytics, research, outside consultants and resources, including PPFA, best practices, and results driven strategies to support and inform patient acquisition efforts
·  Plan and work with patient services, community education, and public policy staff and managers to design and implement localized marketing efforts for each center or service including one-on-one contact with potential referral sources, health promotions, and incentive campaigns
·  Develop marketing materials, including digital, to support patient acquisition, ensuring message and image consistency with other agency outreach efforts
·  Develop and implement tracking system to monitor results of patient acquisition efforts, and share this with senior team and staff on a regular monthly basis
·  Develop the necessary infrastructure for rapid deployment of messaging and tactics to advance patient acquisition goals based on real-time developments in the marketplace and region
 
Communication and Brand Management
·  Develop and manage internal and external communications, media, and strategies that foster positive public perception of Planned Parenthood and enhance our brand identity and reputation
·  Create communications strategies targeting key stakeholders and constituencies that share the full breadth of our services, contribute to continuing positive interest in reproductive health services and specifically in this affiliate to include entire service region, including parts of the state in which we do not currently have centers
·  Develop and implement state-of-the-art web and digital strategies that advance our communications strategies with key stakeholders and constituencies
·  Create effective relationships with local and national media across varying platforms
·  Develop the necessary infrastructure for rapid deployment of messaging and tactics to advance targeted communications goals based on real-time developments in the press, the legislature or the courts.
 ·  Work closely with the CEO, and the senior executive team to develop internal processes that ensure a culture of open communication and collaboration in creating and executing upon developed strategies
·  In consultation with the Executive Team, develop internal communications that inform and engage employees and volunteers around our mission, strategy, and current and expected events that impact our work
·  Seek out new and innovative ways to extend the reach of the organization to diverse communities.
·  Provide leadership for external collaboration and partnerships, including identifying and establishing relationships with third-party validators.
·  Support and inform other departments’ continuing efforts to enhance relationships with providers, schools and vendors.
 
Other
·  Ability to train for being an effective media spokesperson
·   Recruit, select, manage and retain highly competent professionals and provide the leadership to maintain a motivated, productive and qualified team.
·  Senior liaison with the board communications committee

- Periodic travel to affiliate locations may be required
 
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
 Supervise Marketing and Communications Coordinator and Brand Director
 
QUALIFICATIONS 
Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communication, branding or health related field required. Masters degree preferred. Five years of experience in marketing and communications. Experience with valuation of marketing and communications programs. Strong strategic thinking skills; creativity. Excellent communication skills including public speaking and writing. Understanding of new digital platforms, their use, benefits/costs. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations. Multi-lingual a plus.
 
Ability to travel throughout the region; some evenings and weekend work may be required.  Demonstrated leadership in maintaining positive employee relations.  Strong commitment to the mission, goals and values of Planned Parenthood and the ability to communicate those goals and agency values to employees, volunteers, applicants and community contacts. 
 
LANGUAGE SKILLS
 Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents, including marketing, communication and branding laws and regulations.  Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or Board of Directors. Excellent written communication skills, phone and computer skills.
 
 MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
 Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.  Ability to monitor budget and to prepare annual marketing and communication budget.
 
REASONING ABILITY
 Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
