The Vice President of Information Technology (VP of IT) will work closely with the Chief Information Officer (CIO) to manage the organization’s IT strategy, infrastructure, and operations. In addition to performing standard VP of IT duties, the ideal candidate will have strong client-facing skills and will be responsible for identifying and addressing the IT needs of our municipal clients, while also collaborating with sales teams to offer customized IT products and services that meet their specific needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- IT Strategy & Operations:
- Lead the development and execution of the company's IT strategy, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and the unique needs of outsourced library support.
- Oversee the daily operations of the IT department, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability of IT systems and infrastructure.
- Manage a team of IT professionals, fostering a collaborative and innovative culture while driving performance and accountability.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and best practices, with a focus on data privacy, cybersecurity, and operational resilience.
- Client Engagement & Solutions
- Work directly with clients (municipalities and cities) to assess their IT requirements, offering insights into how technology can support their library services.
- Partner with the sales and business development teams to identify opportunities for selling tailored IT solutions and services to existing and potential clients.
- Develop customized proposals and technology roadmaps for clients, ensuring solutions are scalable, cost-effective, and future-proof.
- Act as the primary point of contact for client IT engagements, providing technical expertise, product demonstrations, and ongoing support.
- Vendor & Technology Management
- Identify and manage third-party vendors and technology partners, negotiating contracts and ensuring cost-effective service delivery.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies relevant to library services and municipal support, recommending and implementing new technologies as appropriate.
- Develop and manage the IT department’s budget, ensuring cost-effective investments in hardware, software, personnel, and infrastructure.
- Collaborate with the CIO on long-term IT planning, ensuring that IT strategies align with the company’s growth goals and evolving client needs.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in IT leadership roles, with at least 5 years at the executive level.
- Experience working in a library setting required.
- Proven experience working directly with clients, with a strong understanding of municipal or library systems highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, cloud solutions, software development, cybersecurity, and data management.
- Experience in managing complex IT projects, developing strategy, and driving IT innovation within an organization.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal teams, clients, and external partners.
- Strong business acumen and sales experience, with a proven ability to identify client needs and align IT solutions to meet those needs.
