Abcam’s VP Marketing is responsible for building and executing our global marketing strategy to grow our brand and drive exceptional commercial results for Abcam. You’ll have strong marketing and business development expertise, combined with the ability to succeed at a strategic, tactical, and operational level. Global leadership experience combined with outstanding internal and external networking and communication skills are a prerequisite.

Major responsibilities: 

  • Lead global Abcam’s Global Marketing team, delivering annual revenues over $500m, delighting and engaging our customers, and driving loyalty and share gain in so doing
  • Build and manage a high-performing, customer-focused, results-driven global marketing team, creating operational plans to drive growth, clarity, and accountability across the team 
  • Develop depth and breadth of talent in your team, including clear career paths and proactive succession planning
  • Develop marketing strategy, segmenting markets and identifying key areas of opportunity. Assess customer needs and develop value propositions for markets.
  • Build annual go to market plans including functional operating plans and budgeting, ensuring cross functional alignment and a data-led approach to drive maximum return on investment across a matrix of choices (funnel, geography, customer, product, channel)
  • Develop and execute effective multi-channel marketing campaigns centered on customer insight and using compelling and distinctive creative approaches 
  • Own the commercial performance of our website and overall digital customer experience with a particular focus on smart traffic acquisition and conversion, personalised journeys and the use of content to drive engagement 
  • Collaborate with Abcam’s Digital teams in agile and customer-centered “build-measure-learn” sprints to create optimized digital journeys that drive revenue growth
  • Collaborating with Product Management, develop marketing plans that support corporate and product strategy, including protecting and expanding our core antibody reagents and immunoassay kits markets, and successful launch of new consumable products (>1000 SKU launches per year) and new product lines
  • Collaborate with Sales leaders to ensure appropriate localisation of marketing strategies and develop effective sales activation approaches to maximise regional performance
  • Develop governance, metrics, and communication tools to effectively manage market or product segment strategies at all levels of the organization.
  • Analyze the effectiveness of all marketing strategies based on benchmark information and KPI monitoring. Adjust strategies based upon learnings and insights gained.
  • Compete effectively to win share in our dynamic market. Be market aware, alert to competitor actions, guiding your team to be poised for prompt, appropriate and scaled actions to mitigate downside risks or capitalise on opportunities
  • Ensure Abcam’s leadership in digital customer and ecommerce by launching new initiatives applying artificial intelligence to enhance digital customer experience, improve efficiency of our marketing operations and drive growth
  • Participate in external and internal marketing leadership events (e.g. Danaher pan-operating company marketing leaders events), bringing valuable insights and best practice back to Abcam for implementation

You have progressive Marketing, Product Management, or Sales leadership experience. You have proven ability to succeed at a strategic, tactical, and operational level, evidenced through a track record in building strategic plans and developing teams to execute successfully

You have a strong understanding of the industry and LS products and services. You have broad marketing skillset including Voice of Customer, campaign management, demand generation, market segmentation, digital marketing, competitor assessments etc.

You have experience leading ecommerce and digital marketing teams to deliver significant revenue targets. You have an analytical, data-driven approach to building and executing commercialization plans. Up to 30% travel is required, including international.
