About the role:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Vice President, IT Engineering and Architecture to lead the engineering, enterprise architecture, solution architecture, integration, and automation engineering functions. As a SaaS and cloud-first company, we leverage modern tools and frameworks to build scalable, efficient, and flexible IT and enterprise system capabilities. The VP will play a critical role in driving a composable architecture that supports the company’s technology vision, prioritizing SaaS and cloud platforms while guiding custom development where necessary. The ideal candidate will have strong financial and business acumen to ensure IT investments align with overall business objectives.
Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy: Lead and manage the engineering, enterprise architecture, solution architecture, integration, and automation engineering teams, fostering a high-performance culture focused on innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Enterprise Architecture: Develop and execute an enterprise-wide composable architecture strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and leveraging modern tools and frameworks to deliver scalable and adaptable IT and enterprise system capabilities.

Solution Architecture: Oversee the creation of flexible and composable solution architectures that support business needs, prioritizing SaaS and cloud platforms while leading custom development where SaaS is not a fit.

Integration & Automation: Lead the integration and automation engineering teams, ensuring that systems, applications, and workflows are seamlessly integrated and optimized for efficiency. Drive automation efforts to streamline operations and improve business processes.

Cloud-Based Solutions: Provide strategic leadership in building and deploying applications and services within cloud environments, focusing on SaaS platforms and modern frameworks, while ensuring that custom-built solutions are secure, scalable, and cost-effective when necessary.

Financial & Business Acumen: Partner with finance and business leaders to ensure IT and enterprise system capabilities are aligned with financial objectives, budget constraints, and overall business goals. Drive financial efficiency and deliver measurable return on IT investments.

Agile & Product Operating Models: Lead the transformation of IT from a project-based to a product-based operating model, emphasizing agile principles and practices to drive faster time-to-value, improved customer satisfaction, and continuous delivery.

Innovation & Emerging Technologies: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends, ensuring the company’s IT and enterprise system architecture can leverage new opportunities while maintaining robust security and compliance.

Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate closely with business leaders, product teams, and other key stakeholders to understand business challenges and ensure IT solutions are delivering measurable business outcomes.

Team Development: Build and mentor a world-class team of architects and engineers, fostering a culture of learning, innovation, and career growth.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- 15+ years of experience in technology or related field, including at least 10 years of people management experience.
- Proven experience as a VP of IT or similar leadership role in a large, complex organization.
- Extensive experience leading enterprise and solution architecture, engineering, integration, and automation functions, with a focus on SaaS and cloud-first environments.
- Demonstrated success in building and deploying solutions within cloud environments, leveraging modern tools and frameworks to implement a composable architecture.
- Strong financial and business acumen, with the ability to align IT strategy with business goals and ensure effective budget management.
- Experience with cloud-native technologies, microservices architecture, and API-driven solutions.
- Strong expertise in agile methodologies, DevOps, and continuous delivery practices.
- Ability to think strategically while also driving tactical execution.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and influence at all levels of the organization.
- Experience managing large teams and complex projects, with a focus on delivering results.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with SaaS platforms and cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Background in integration technologies, automation frameworks, and related tools.
- Experience overseeing custom development projects where SaaS is not applicable.
- Familiarity with composable architecture principles and their practical application.
- Certification in Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, SAFe) or architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF) is highly desirable.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred. (Master’s degree preferred).
