About this role
The Vice President of Finance (VP of Finance) is a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for overseeing the company's financial operations. This role requires an experienced financial leader with a deep understanding of SaaS metrics, subscription revenue models, and financial management in a tech-driven environment.
This role provides strategic financial insights to support decision-making and long-term growth. The VP of Finance will manage all aspects of financial planning, risk management, financial reporting, and accounting operations, ensuring the company meets all regulatory requirements and business objectives.
The current finance function is based solely in the UK, and as such, we would like this role to be based in the UK (London/Basingstoke). This role reports directly to the CEO and has a team of 3 direct reports.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute financial strategies that align with the company’s business goals.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and executive team on financial matters
- Oversee financial forecasting, budgeting, and long-term planning.
- Conduct regular financial analysis to ensure performance aligns with strategic goals
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with all regulatory requirements and GAAP/IFRS standards
- Manage external relationships with auditors, banks, and financial institutions
- Ensure robust internal controls, policies, and procedures are in place to protect company assets.
- Oversee compliance with tax, audit, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage cash flow to optimize the company’s liquidity, investments, and financial health.
- Lead efforts to secure additional financing if needed
- Track, analyze, and report key SaaS metrics such as MRR (Monthly Recurring Revenue), ARR (Annual Recurring Revenue), churn, LTV (Lifetime Value), CAC (Customer Acquisition Cost), and customer retention.
- Implement systems and dashboards to provide real-time data and insights into financial performance and KPIs.
- Use data-driven analysis to improve profitability, optimize pricing models, and drive revenue growth.
- Build and lead a high-performing finance and accounting team to support the company’s scaling efforts
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in FP&A, accounting, or finance role including at least 5 years at a high-growth technology startup.
- You are an artful communicator (both verbal and written) and have strong social skills
- You are able to achieve results through influencing and networking
- You have excellent financial controls and commercial finance experience.
- Experience of raising a venture capital round of finance or an exit.
- Experience of giving financial presentations to a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including venture capital investors
- Experience of working internationally.
