What You’ll Do/Responsibilities

You will lead Ad Sales Research for Spotter, overseeing the provision of strategic and tactical research support to the Spotter Ads sales team,  in order to establish and fortify marketplace awareness and excitement around Spotter and the creator economy.  You will be chiefly responsible for helping our sellers answer the question “Why Spotter?”, empirically corroborating Spotter’s singular ability to attract and influence hard-to-reach, finely targeted, and hyper-engaged audiences at scale.

You’ll do this through utilizing a combination of primary and syndicated research methodologies to furnish quantitative and qualitative data for prospective and current agency and brand clients.  You’ll work together with Ad Sales Marketing and Sales leadership to continuously refine Spotter’s strategic positioning, external messaging and sales materials in service of driving revenue growth for and enhancing the industry-wise image of Spotter within the advertising and media investment community. 

You will leverage existing and identify – even build – new approaches to quantify, interpret, report, and contextualize the performance of advertising across Spotter content.  The Head of Spotter Ad Sales Research & Insights will partner with our leading clients and agencies to help measure the effectiveness of their investments in our platform. In addition, this role will align with key cross-functional teams such as Sales, Marketing, Ad Ops, Planning, and Analytics to ensure that clients and agencies have best-in-class support.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage Ad Sales Research function at Spotter, serving as internal and external expert on how to optimize consumer engagement with brands advertising in/integrating with Spotter content.
  • Fulfill ad-hoc sales research requests leveraging a variety of data, including audience metrics, consumer insights, competitive advertising intelligence, targeting and overall marketplace trends
  • Blend strong analytical aptitude with business acumen to understand marketing strategy/objectives and identify suite of research approaches to best assess campaign impact
  • Build and oversee a small team of research analysts
  • Assist with project management and data analysis for various forms of campaign effectiveness research studies
  • Lead and partner in conversion of research results into client-ready, storytelling reports with insightful key findings and actionable recommendations.
  • Maintain client relationships throughout the full project life cycle to build sustainable partnerships for future client growth and development
  • Partner with Marketing and Sales colleagues to identify data and measurement gaps, and to evaluate alternative methodologies and suppliers to fill them
  • Liaise with Spotter Analytics to mine valuable advertiser-facing insights from learnings on content optimization
  • Support C-Suite with board and investor materials when necessary
  • Support marketing and sales in thought leadership and editorial content. 

Who You Are/Required Qualifications

Education & Experience/Certifications:

  • 12+ years of related media/ad sales/consumer research experience, ideally including measurement and analysis of streaming TV and online video
  • Familiarity with both primary/syndicated consumer research and media/campaign measurement landscapes required
  • Deep experience with soup-to-nuts campaign measurement – from recommending research suppliers and designs; to helping draft surveys (e.g., brand lift) and other primary research tools (e.g., focus group discussion guides); to interpreting and distilling results into coherent and compelling narratives.
  • Professional experience with brands, advertising agencies or complex marketing data-driven organizations
  • Proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with media research and software programs (e.g., Nielsen suite of media measurement products, comScore, Tubular Labs)
  • Relevant bachelor's degree in a quantitative field - or graduate degree within a science, mathematics, operations, business, digital marketing, or research field – a plus

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles that will be performed in Culver City. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the current pay range is: $200K-$500K salary per year. The range listed is just one component of Spotter’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include an annual discretionary bonus and equity.
