ORGANIZATION SUMMARY

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is part of a special grant focusing on assisting clients with gaining meaningful careers. The Newcomer Career Navigation (NCN) Program is a federally funded program. The Vocational English and Life Skills Specialist(s) will support and empower newcomers as they work toward long-term career goals through providing Vocational English and Life Skills courses and coaching individuals and groups through online learning platforms.
This is a limited-term position funded through a grant agreement until 09/30/2025 and contingent upon funding extension.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- As an imbedded member of the Economic Empowerment (EE) team, collaborate with the team on provision of the life skills and English classes offered to participants
- Attend regular meetings with other NCN staff, to review new participant career plans
- Coordination, facilitation, and teaching of vocational English, both individually and in small groups. This includes identifying, utilizing and tailoring vocational English curriculum. Class size may vary.
- Develop digital learning curriculum to enhance clients’ strengths
- Prepare and distribute learning materials and supportive supplies to each client, including translated resources when available
- Adapt or create testing and assessments to track participant progress through and mastery of content.
- Coaching participants through EnGen, to track their progress and determine whether additional education support is appropriate in meeting goals set forth in the plan.
- Be familiar with program guidelines and requirements
- Careful tracking, record keeping and reporting in multiple database systems
- Participate in required department and all-staff meetings
- Other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Mature and personal Christian faith
- Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
- Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
- Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Evangelicals For the Health of The Nation document
- Experience working cross culturally and with preliterate and/or non-native English speakers
- Bachelor’s degree or higher, ideally in TESL or a similar content area.
- Experience in teaching or group facilitation
- Familiar with community resources in the local area
- Driving is required

- Be responsive and ready available to clients, staff, volunteers, and those outside World Relief, interacting in professional manner with a customer-service mindset
