The Cloud Consultant / Architect is responsible for delivering advisory and solutioning services focused on VMware and related technologies. The role involves working closely with clients to design, implement, and optimize cloud infrastructure solutions that align with business objectives. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor, providing deep technical expertise and strategic guidance on cloud infrastructure, hybrid environments, and virtualization.
1. Advisory & Consultancy:
- Engage with clients to understand their business requirements, challenges, and goals related to cloud infrastructure.
- Provide strategic advisory services, helping clients define their cloud strategy, architecture, and roadmap, particularly in the context of VMware technologies.
- Conduct cloud assessments, evaluating existing IT environments, identifying gaps, and recommending tailored solutions.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on cloud best practices, hybrid cloud architectures, and multi-cloud strategies.
2. Solution Design & Architecture:
- Lead the design and architecture of cloud infrastructure solutions using VMware and adjacent technologies (NSX, vSphere, vSAN, vRealize, etc.).
- Develop high-level and detailed design documents, including infrastructure diagrams, configuration guidelines, and technical specifications.
- Provide technical leadership on cloud migration projects, designing solutions for workload migrations, disaster recovery, and application modernization.
- Ensure solutions align with industry best practices, security frameworks, and regulatory compliance.
3. Implementation & Delivery:
- Oversee the deployment, configuration, and optimization of cloud environments, ensuring seamless implementation and integration of VMware products.
- Lead technical delivery teams in executing complex cloud solutions, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and meet customer expectations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including network, security, and operations to deliver comprehensive cloud solutions.
- Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for client cloud environments, ensuring stability, performance, and scalability.
4. Client Engagement & Stakeholder Management:
- Act as a trusted advisor to key client stakeholders, building long-term relationships and providing ongoing technical consultancy.
- Present solution designs, project plans, and progress updates to senior client stakeholders, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Work closely with sales and pre-sales teams to support business development efforts, including creating proposals and responding to RFPs.
5. Technology Focus:
- Expertise in VMware products including vSphere, vSAN, NSX, vRealize, and VMware Cloud Foundation.
- Knowledge of adjacent technologies, including cloud management platforms, automation (e.g., Terraform, Ansible), containerization (Kubernetes), and hybrid cloud solutions.
- Strong understanding of public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and how to integrate them with VMware-based environments.
- Keep up to date with the latest trends in cloud computing, virtualization, and cloud-native technologies, ensuring continuous professional development.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, with a focus on cloud architecture and VMware technologies.
- Proven experience in designing and delivering cloud solutions in enterprise environments.
- Deep knowledge of VMware products (vSphere, vSAN, NSX, vRealize, etc.) and their use in cloud and hybrid cloud architectures.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud-native technologies.
- Strong communication and client-facing skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).
- Certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP), VMware Certified Design Expert (VCDX), or relevant cloud certifications (AWS, Azure).
- Ability to work in fast-paced environments and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
