Vice President of Earth Data Operations

Geophysical Data Acquisition Leadership and Strategy:

  • Provide leadership to the EDA organization in all matters associated with geophysical data acquisition.  Emphasis is placed on node and towed streamer seismic acquisition but may also include geophysical airborne and field work.
  • Collaboratively develop geophysical data acquisition strategies with internal EDA business units.
  • Manage future project preparation and the status of planned projects.
  • Guide business units in the selection of appropriate resources based on factors such as HSE performance, quality, and cost.
  • Supervise CGG’s data acquisition programs globally, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.

Strategic Sourcing and Vendor Management:

  • Establish appropriate internal processes and guide the sourcing manager and local teams in supplier selection.
  • Coordinate EDA’s approach to suppliers, including tenders, master service agreements, and call-off documents.
  • Ensure tender information is accurate and sufficient for CGG’s suppliers to bid on.
  • Engage in contract negotiations for high-value services.
  • Oversee contracts and relationships with third parties and suppliers.
  • Manage contract disputes and address key issues such as upcoming projects, permitting, and client demands.
  • Coordinate meetings, conversations, and engagement with critical and prospective suppliers.
  • Direct the sourcing and acquisition process, through regional project managers, influencing acquisition costs.

Project Governance and Safety

  • Coordinate survey preparation from EDA project teams and the supplier.
  • Represent the EDA Management Team in start-up meetings, sharing relevant messages and reinforcing critical procedures, particularly in relation to safety.
  • Supervise third-party operations commissioned by EDA.
  • Coordinate the monitoring of survey progress daily, including safety, quality, environmental, and other compliance issues.
  • Monitor existing project performance and expected results through direct reports.
  • Communicate ongoing operations with senior members inside EDA and their teams to address key issues.
  • Facilitate the closeout of projects and document lessons learned.

Safety / HSE:

  • Actively engage with corporate management to review and address HSE topics,
  • Oversee HSE tasks, including reviewing incident reports and hazard observations.
  • Challenge team members on HSE performance.
  • Support initiatives related to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE).
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Extensive experience in marine operations with a focus on geophysical data acquisition.
  • Geophysical airborne and field work experience a plus
  • Proven leadership and strategic planning skills.
  • Strong negotiation and resource management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Familiarity with HSE standards and practices.
