Vice President, Medical Affairs

As Vice President of Medical Affairs you will define and implement all aspects of the clinical trial engagement and awareness for Relay Tx’s clinical-stage breast cancer program.  You will be the leader of the Medical Affairs function and partner closely with internal and external stakeholders to develop solutions that drive awareness and enrollment of Relay Therapeutics breast cancer program, incorporate critical insights into medical strategy, and build external networks and partnerships to advance clinical trials and patient identification. We are seeking an individual who is an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills, who is a skilled relationship-builder and cross-functional collaborator, and actively engaged in the field of breast cancer.

Your Role:

  • Plan, develop, and execute an integrated Medical Affairs strategy with internal and external stakeholders, KOL, clinical sites, patients for Relay Tx’s breast cancer program
  • Establish and maintain credible scientific interactions with national and top regional opinion leaders as well as clinicians and researchers in breast cancer
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for breast cancer and provide critical medical input into the development strategies of clinical programs
  • Coach, develop, and retain a high performing team by creating and providing opportunities for learning and advancement 
  • Refine the PML/MSL strategy to drive patient/investigator identification and trial enrollment
  • Provide leadership with congress planning and key opinion leader engagement including proactive facilitation of thought leader interactions, and comprehensive review and presentation of key insights and feedback
  • Plan and conduct Medical Advisory boards in collaboration with external agencies to obtain critical feedback/input on Relay Tx’s breast cancer trial
  • Lead development of indication/protocol level communication plans with external stakeholders and partners to drive trial awareness and referral for potential patients
  • Advance our advocacy awareness and engagement strategy; partner with breast cancer advocacy groups to evaluate communication materials and raise awareness of Relay Tx clinical trials


Your Background:

  • Health sciences advanced or doctoral degree, such as a PharmD, MD, or PhD highly preferred.  PA, MSN, NP, DNP accompanied by previous pharmaceutical industry or clinical research experience in the area of breast cancer will be considered
  • Clinical or prior pharmaceutical industry experience in therapeutic area of oncology is required
  • 10+ years clinical or pharmaceutical experience with a minimum of 8 years of experience in field medical or clinical trial engagement and awareness roles
  • Understanding of local medical practice and clinical decision making as it pertains to patient care
  • Ability to interpret scientific data and translate this information to meet educational, clinical and research needs
  • Understanding of the design and execution of research studies
  • Exemplary communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to think strategically and collaborate effectively
  • Ability and willingness to travel
  • Track record of successfully meeting or exceeding clinical trial timelines and patient recruitment goals
  • History of building long-term relationships with investigative sites, advocacy groups and other key clinical research stakeholders
  • Familiarity with effective digital clinical trials communication technologies
  • Demonstrated expertise in CFR and GCP/ICH requirements and European Clinical Trial Directive
