About the role

The Vice President of Medical Affairs, reporting to the President of the Medical Group and the Quality Board, will work closely with other senior leaders to develop and implement policies, procedures, and programs that enhance the quality of care, improve patient outcomes, and drive organizational success. This position requires a deep understanding of the healthcare landscape, regulatory requirements, and emerging trends in medical practice, particularly in the telehealth space. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker, an effective communicator, and a collaborative leader who can inspire and motivate a diverse team of healthcare professionals. Key responsibilities include ensuring implementation and compliance of clinical operations, managing medical staff, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. The Vice President of Medical Affairs will also play a pivotal role in representing the organization to external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, industry partners, and the broader medical community, in conjunction with the President of the Medical Group.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with providers and administrators to ensure that the highest standards of quality and service are maintained
  • Oversees the development and implementation of quality improvement efforts designed to improve clinical performance and maintain compliance with CMS and other accreditation standards. Participates in development and implementation of quality initiatives including KPI development, patient access, improved NPS scores, clinical outcomes and process improvement
  • Assess, identify and implement clinical policies and guidelines in accordance with medical bylaws, regulatory, and accreditation bodies
  • Facilitates collaboration between individual providers and/or other departments in LifeMD
  • Promotes opportunities for management and providers to develop closer working relationships and cooperative programs
  • Work with clinical team members effectively to drive engagement across the provider group
  • Act as a liaison between LifeMD Boards, Management and the provider staff in regard to patient care, performance improvement, quality & outcomes, patient safety, professional conduct, maintenance of professional standards, and compliance with clinical Bylaws, Rules & Regulations, & Policies
  • Oversee the review, analysis and evaluation of patient care at LifeMD by working with providers, and the Quality Committee to achieve improved and sustained performance
  • Assist in the investigation and take action as appropriate in response to complaints made by patients or associates related to members of the provider team
  • Act as the expert as it pertains to clinical excellence, compliance, and knowledge of commercial and government payers
  • Holds providers accountable for performance and clinical quality standards
  • Addresses behavioral issues, HR issues, and other administrative tasks as needed

Requirements

  • Medical degree or DO degree with an active medical license required
  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience in specialty and minimum of five years (5) of management experience in health care
  • Minimum of 3 years experience managing providers
  • Minimum of 3 years experience managing regulatory affairs, or regulatory bodies

Licensure

  • Current active unrestricted license to practice medicine in at least one US state or territory and prior (or current) Board Certification in a specialty are required. If the physician is clinically active a current active unrestricted license to practice medicine must be in the state where the assigned facility operates and the Board Certification must be current
